I am debating on building a house, but afraid the stress maybe too much

especially since I have a sick wife. We have 43 acres on the water with 560 waterfront and a nice point that I can build a house with a 270 degree water view and every room having a view of the water. Everyone I talked that has built a home says it is way too stressful and would not do it again. I would make it turn key with a contractor septic, well, site prep, and a stick build. If you built a house, would you do it again? I am 64 and wife is 67. Wife is just in love with property, but I may just buy a house in Deltaville, Kilmarnock, Reedville area. ** Edited by VaTechie at 8/1/2026, 12:56:26 AM

hell, just open passenger front door and passenger back door

let her squat and pee between the doors. I love having a country woman that is use to peeing in a horse stall if she has to.

try doing Federal contractor training

for a law enforcement agency like ATF. At least your seem to have value. How many times do I have to take active shooter classes and fire, exit training of a building I may go into maybe 3 times a year. I did not have to do it for the building I was in a dozen times a year though.

My wife was on a cane in two weeks, shoveling horse poop in 4 weeks

She is a beast with all her medical problems. Working on back, shoulder, and neck pain right now. Good luck on your recovery. It is suppose to be the most painful recovery.

I brought the best one Home depot had, and it broke the first day of use

I made it 100 feet and the belt broke. I just brought a 72 inch 25 horse power 15 year old zero turn for 3500 bucks. It is a beast that cuts 3 foot high grass. I would replace the engine when it goes.

Manny is a good DC. 1st year as DC, was a Broyles award nominee

Miami had great defenses under him. The turnover chain started by him was extreme.

I already looked that up. I like he has some long runs. My concern at RB

is Overton (not enough data), Hawkins, and Davis do not have many catches. Maybe we do not need that, but Franklin PSU past offenses the RB's caught more passes.

Damn, was it a Ryan Home

gaps in the brick? Did the mortar fall out or just not enough mortar which you would notice? Was it near the roof overhang?

The Lounge 1 w ago

Damn, my two horses eat 11,000 pounds of hay a year ....

Is that a years supply? My costs is about 3k for the horses. What is your costs a year?

Wrong, my cat follows me around like a dog. A real kitty dog.

When laying on couch or in my recliner he wants to be on my chest and pet him.

The Lounge 1 w ago

I rescued one, got it neutered, brought it to a cat rescue

My wife decided she like the new one that came around a month later. He is letting me get real close and follows me to the horse barn and sits just outside it.

Hopewell now has 10 flock cameras at the intersections. How do you feel

about them. Big Brother is watching, and I have accepted it since I no longer am working and have security clearances. Flock Cameras, developed by Flock Safety, are automated license plate reading (ALPR) systems used by law enforcement, businesses, and HOAs to track vehicles. Unlike standard security cameras, they use AI to capture specific vehicle details—license plates, make, model, color, and unique features like bumper stickers—and upload them to a searchable, nationwide cloud network. How They Work and Their Purpose Vehicle Fingerprinting: Rather than continuous video, they take still images of passing cars and catalog the vehicle's attributes. Real-Time Alerts: Police departments can input license plates associated with warrants or missing persons, instantly receiving alerts when those vehicles pass a camera. Crime Reduction: Proponents argue that tracking vehicle patterns is an effective way to solve property crimes, violent offenses, and locate fugitives across jurisdictions Controversy and Privacy ConcernsDespite their popularity in thousands of communities, Flock cameras are heavily scrutinized by privacy advocates and civil liberties organizations like the ACLU Mass Surveillance: Privacy watchdogs warn that these systems construct massive databases that track the movements of law-abiding citizens without a warrant Federal Loopholes: Immigration agencies and other federal departments can utilize these local camera networks to pursue individuals.

Went to summer school one semester

Took 3 electives so I could graduate a quarter early. 3 classes, then off to the New River with a young lady and we made tequila sunrises on the rocks.

How could you forget how Vick carried the football like

precious loaf of bread away from his body. You knew a fumble was coming and it sure did in the third and fourth quarter. One he scooped up and was able to get a first down. The other was in the fourth quarter and Florida State recovered. He had 3 fumbles in that game.

my family hates state farm. Screwed my parents. Allstate for me

My brother had switched away from them a year before because he met a father and son that had worked for them. My car insurance goes back 43 years with them. Never had a problem and my wife likes to wreck cars.

The Lounge 1 w ago

that is the way I am going

Amazon so far makes you order six, and I only need two for now. I do have two in my barn, but I plan on getting rid of that fixture too.

The Lounge 1 w ago

I have replacements, and not going fluorescent

My wife has had 50 appoints in the last 17 weeks with more to go. I just want a temporary fix until I get to replace with the ones I have.

The Lounge 1 w ago

can you put an led bulb in a fluorescent fixture

@PhotoHokieNC @Coach McGuirk I am going to replace the fixtures and have them downstairs. I just need to take care of my sick wife first, then replace the fixtures. Should I just go with normal florescent bulbs, or can I put in LED bulbs? AI says I should not put in LED bulbs unless I want to by pass the ballest. If you all feel ambitious, link the correct 48 inch LED bulb from Amazon. ROFLOL AI: can you put an led bulb in a fluorescent fixture Yes, you can put LED bulbs in fluorescent fixtures, but you cannot simply screw in a standard LED. You must use specialty LED tubes and either plug-and-play them (if compatible) or rewire the fixture to bypass the internal ballast. There are three main options for upgrading:Plug-and-Play (Type A): These LED tubes are designed to work directly with your existing fluorescent ballast. You simply remove the old tube and click in the new LED. However, you must verify that your specific ballast is on the manufacturer's compatibility list, and keep in mind that when the ballast eventually fails, the lights will stop working.Ballast-Bypass / Direct Wire (Type B): This is the most popular and reliable option. You remove or bypass the old ballast and wire the fixture directly to the mains voltage (line to one end, neutral to the other). This eliminates the ballast entirely, so it will never fail or hum again.Plug & Play + Direct Wire (Type A/B Hybrid): These versatile tubes can be used with your existing ballast initially, and then rewired to bypass the ballast if the ballast fails down the road.

yeah, they definitely choked on that one

They are the only original ACC team that does not have an outright football championship.

I paid for a separate roof inspector.

He got on our two story barn and house. It was a 100 bucks eight year ago.

UVA's defense should be very good. Their D was really good last year.

They should have a solid run game. They have questions on WR and QB. I am very active on their board for decades and follow UVA football going back to the late seventies. ** Edited by VaTechie at 7/22/2026, 5:44:30 PM

Nevon Shapiro ?????

Poor Barry Alvarez. VT got on probation because Bruce Smith took a load of fire wood plus org Look at what Miami did, and what the NCAA did. At least it was more than North Carolina. ** Edited by VaTechie at 7/19/2026, 1:27:49 AM

I commuted with a guy, and he says he got at least one a year

for the past 5 years. I was like that is crazy. I live in the country for the past 26 years and only have one 23 years ago. I see them every day I leave the first two miles I leave my current house.

yepa, marched to VTfor 5 years, then marched to Texas A&M for 5 years

and now I expect 5 years at Maryland. Will he retire then? I think he gets tired after 5 years or people get tired of him after 5 years. I got tired of a job after 5 years and moved on.

The Lounge 2 w ago

I do the same, and rarely go through a drive thru

CVS drive through no way. I go in, get my prescriptions, and see the drive through only processed one car because they are waiting on the pharmacists to talk to them. I go inside, their are 4 pickups areas and they process it quickly.

The Lounge 3 w ago

My wife is just recovering from one, 11 weeks ago

She got an infection. She is a beast and finished home therapy with 2 left. She was on a cane in no time. She was helping clean horse stalls after 5 weeks. Unfortunately, her neck is acting up and going to therapy for that in the next 10 days. She is 66.

I just retired my 8 year old Andoid Samsung

and my previous Android Samsung lasted 8 years. You got suckered into buying an Iphone.

Did any lounger participate in Bonnie Blue's extreme 1000-man?

I thought it was fake, but it seems to be true. 1000 men in 12 hours Do people sing like 99 bottles of beer on the wall? 1000 penises in the line, take one down, pass it around 999 penises in the line

I heard he ate taco bell for three days and

then use his farts to move the 1100 pound cannon off the battlefield.

The Lounge 4 w ago

I am pretty close to you except for one thing ...

I turn the WC on for 10 minutes and have had enough. I just find Soccer boring on TV like baseball. I will once in a while watch a whole baseball world series game.
