I'm starting to realize that my personality and live events aren't a good
mix. My son and I were at the England vs Panama game.
I spend too much time focusing on:
- The dad with 2 young kids who isn't keeping an eye on them for bad behavior.
- Wondering why people are standing in front of me when nothing exciting is happening AND no one is standing in front of them.
- You spent HUNDREDS on these tickets, and you've gone to concessions (or the bathroom) 5 times!!!
- Yes, you're at the game with your older mother who doesn't know soccer well, but please stop with the non stop commentary, opinions and rules explanations.
And probably a few other things.

To be fair, it was a soccer game. Easy to lose interest. There is a reason they have so many fights in the stands in Europe. A large group of drunk men and they are bored out of their gourds... jk. Before you decide, see if the same thing happens at a football game or a hockey game.

and how much of a commute (one way) the person has to get there, people may still opt to watch the game on a box TV at home or at a bar/restaurant close to their home instead of in person. For example, you couldn't pay me enough money to drive to FedEx Field to watch VT play anyone there. I will only attend the game if I can find a bus trip. Likewise, I am very selective on which Caps games I will go see at Capital One Arena because I can never be sure which nights someone is willing to pick up the tab to keep the Metro running late and I refuse paying $100 fare just to get back to my car in Reston.

"outdated" by today's HDTV standards, I would still prefer to watch sporting events on it rather than in person.

sofa in the den/family room that shuts down all "lanes" to the kitchen (more specifically the fridge), then your only option is to go to DEFCON 1 and call out the National Guard because you are experiencing a real "emergency." :-)
