Last I heard, he was the on-air personality that drove ratings more than anyone else on the network. Many like him, many don't, but either way, he drives ratings.

Since he is on air during times in the day when most people are at work or
in school, then it does make me wonder who the target demographic is and what formula ESPN to calculate the ratings for its weekday daytime shows.

I heard a veteran radio guy the other day discussing a concept in
broadcasting called "audience capture" - where a personality and/or a show grow more and more popular and in order to keep clicks and ratings high, the show begins increasingly to do what its audience wants. Sports fans have steadily become garbage haulers so sports networks are doing their level best to keep the douchebags happy.
