They then translate this to "not NBA-ready". Not saying I agree, but that is often what I see in the comments on these boards. This is a bit reminiscent of the attitude many around here had towards NAW a few years back. Many average CBB observers simply don't know how to project potential to the next level.

I must misunderstand what you mean by efficiency. I typically think that efficiency means points/possession on average. However, to me that would mean that the more efficient team wants MORE possessions since the more possessions you get, the closer you will be to your average in general. This is usually how you see it in football. The less skilled team wants to keep possessions lower, since the weaker team can only stop the better team (or get lucky with turnovers) so many times. Perhaps what you mean is efficiency in the half-court offense (as opposed to fast breaks, turn-overs, etc.)? Thus, the more efficient (but perhaps less athletic) team wants a slower pace (fewer possessions) since they are more likely to score in the X half-court possessions they get, whereas the more athletic but less efficient team scores less in half-court and relies more on fast pace, turnovers, etc. Is that how I should understand it? I wasn't surprised with the exception of Poteat. He is obviously experienced and a decent free throw shooter, so I didn't expect him to miss both. Making one of those two doesn't really change anything. Making both would have forced a three point attempt, so who knows what happens? I would love to see the core of this team stay together. I would be curious what they could do next year with a couple of key additions.

Concerning your first point, could you clarify a bit? Specifically, you say: "Presidents might have the votes in terms of official NCAA rulings, but finances and athletics are absolutely the top concern." OK, that makes sense, but I am not entirely sure what you mean. My interpretation of the previous comment was that the P2 can't drive the NCAA since there are other college presidents involved in the decisions (again, my interpretation - I don't know enough to confirm or deny this). So, while we all agree that finances and athletics are the top concern, how does that negate the idea that the P2 can't drive the NCAA without other schools agreeing? Is it because the other schools need the money the P2 generate? Thanks in advance for the clarification.
