OK boomer
I have a pair with shock absorbers - I don't use them most of the time, but when I do they really make a difference

I was at that game - one of the most incredible things I ever saw
The whole game was insanely loud, but when Sandman came on before that last play ... unreal. I drove up from Florida with a good friend who was a huge Miami fan and even he had to admit that environment was unbelievable. Hard to believe it's been 15 years.

one of my biggest regrets - not staying in the 'burg for my college summers
I spent July 1988 there for a Governor's School program between my junior and senior years of HS and it was fantastic

I know it well
One of my college summers I worked temp construction and did some demo in a house or two in there IIRC

My HS prom was at that O Club
Great venue, especially the little deck up on the dunes where amorous couples could suck face while watching the moon on the ocean
Growing up in VB I always tried to stay away from the strip - Croatan was my go-to, Sandbridge a distant second (just b/c it was such a haul)

just about - '89 to '93 here
I know there's a ton of MVs so you may not have known him, but I had a good friend who played trumpet (?) during those years - Jon Wilt.

still dead to me though
the HI on my current home (bought 8 years ago) failed to detect that the carpet all over the house was riddled with dog and cat pee (I assume because they didn't bother to unplug any of the 87 scent-producing devices around the house) or that the roof had recently been damaged by a hail storm (which resulted in everyone on our street but us getting a new roof paid for by insurance).

Before my junior year I went up a week early
I was working at Dietrick and, if memory serves, the management wanted us there early for "training" (though I can't recall what that entailed). Met some co-workers while there, started hanging out with some of them, and on the day all the rest of the students showed up one of them invited me to a fraternity party. She also brought along her new freshman roommate from West AJ - whom I've now been married to for 33+ years.

One of those is appearing at this year's Salt Lake Comic-Con
Why on earth she needs to be doing that at her age I have no earthly idea. $50 says she doesn't get 50 people visiting her table the entire weekend.

There's a local park near Anacortes, Wash., where rocks from the mantle are
visible (that's them in the foreground of the pic) - not a national park, obvs, and I'm not sure if that's the same thing as the mantle itself being visible

yup - one year we got a good dump so some buddies and I went over there
pulled a couple of lids off some small dumpsters, the kind that were ridged on top so they acted like runners when you turned them over. We piled a couple of guys on and took off and were flying down the hill and across the cart paths in no time. But we couldn't steer and the spray was blinding us, so I rolled off but my buddy stayed on and hit a tree - he thinks now he probably cracked a rib. Good times.

Toyota MR2 still looks stylish 30-some years later
I really dug the look of my '99 Grand Prix too but then Pontiac died

It's been about two for me but I'm not as old as you
haha
What was your diagnosis? I've got arthritis in both hips and a likely torn labrum in one. But for now I can still do most everything I always have with minimal pain so ortho said hip replacement probably won't be needed for a long time.

As a casual CFB observer I wonder if this sort of thing happens at other
schools. Programs bringing former/retired coaches back in advisory capacities to inspire kids who can't remember the good old days. Or similar measures to get things back on track when needed.
