If you look at recent additions the 2004 ACC scenario hasn't been replicate
In 2004 VT was a state school in a state that was represented in the aggressor and victim conference. The closest we've come since was potential harm done to Texas Tech by Texas A&Ms vote.
If you look at the ACC/SEC overlap you have Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, and Kentucky represented on both sides. This is why I feel like the next SEC expansion could be large. There will be a lot of in state pressure not to gut the ACC and leave the fellow state school stranded.
Going to 24 in one expansion would be unprecedented but it would be the way to acknowledge if you break it you buy it.

If we missed out because ND was our 9th game that year how would we feel?
Let's say the team that beat us to the championship beat Wake instead of losing to ND?

Disagree....I'm loving the edible poptarts, dancing mayo...
and mowers with dj booths.
Bowls should be fun. Too many are trying to be serious. We love the unserious atmosphere!

If we went with UVA, UNC, and NCState we would win our share.
You'd have Vandy, Tennessee, South Carolina, Arkansas, Mississippi State, Missouri, Auburn and Florida as well. Surely we'd be able to win some of those. We'd probably lose a lot to LSU, Alabama, and Georgia. The rest we should strive to compete with.

I'm guessing their money stopped today.
ACC bylaws say you're ineligible to vote on anything if you have an intention to leave.
Their position in the ACC is as an observer at best right now.

The desired date is posted in their lawsuit.
They want the declared date of intent to leave be August 14, 2023. So they want to leave August 15, 2024.
And they've definitely had talks with another conference or they wouldn't feel confident doing this.

I'm fairly certain the bylaws say that you have to use NC courts.
I expect that it won't remain in FL.
I'm no lawyer but I believe that the relevant laws would be on interstate trade. So, for example, Florida can't just make a law that it's illegal for FSU to be in the ACC as a way to get out.

I think either they'll succeed and we'll all leave or ESPN steps up
If ESPN swoops in with a raise to protect their investment, as they did with the Big12 when the Pac16 was about to happen, then we might just keep the band together.
If FSU gets the penalty to $0 then most of the conference will leave. Even if only to form a new conference with many of the same teams to get out of the TV deal.

Have you looked at what 12-team would be this year?
Completely filled with teams that'll be in P2 next season outside of the conference champions.

How much is it that they're limiting bad matchups?
The Western teams aren't strong. The Northeastern teams aren't strong. The NC private teams aren't historically strong. Put those three blocks mostly playing for regional pride. That way you don't see them on the other schedules as often.

They'd do better to merge with the Big East and go football indy
Uconn, UMass, Army, BC, and Wake would be a start of an indy football schedule.

The Big12 original members are giving up $7mil a piece to pay the newbies
That was a non-starter for the ACC. Nobody was going to do anything that took from their own money.
The Big12 couldn't reduce original member's shares forever. They found their limit.

If anything, reverse it. Stadiums under 70k get a revenue redistribution.
They actually redistribute ticket sales in the Big 10.

Some are saying there is a Board of Gov that Chancellor answers to.
And there is a Board of Trustees that can't really do anything.

Does that mean that the vote is going against their position?
Why release something like that otherwise?

We have 13 years before we should worry about tv ratings.
By then everything will be completely different.
One trip to CA per sport isn't going to bankrupt anyone. Just enjoy the variety.

I've seen estimates of anywhere from 50 to 70 million subs for ACCN
Assuming we added 20% of the US population into our footprint by adding those two states. I've seen estimates that in state subs are about $1 a month more. Assuming the subs are distributed evenly (huge assumption), there are between 10 and 14 million subs increasing by $12 per year. So potentially $120m to $168m split with ESPN.
...I actually feel that you should be able to negotiate on that split with ESPN. You're helping them bring in instant revenue as well.

It's sourced from "F.A. Kenews".
He literally gives it away and people are still taking it seriously.

This just feels like a rumor to destabilize the ACC.
The Big12 wants to change the narrative that they're unstable and turn it into them being the P3 now.
Adding Utah and some of the worst football teams doesn't suddenly make you a Power conference.
I don't see how FSU gets to leave without a reaction by ESPN that'll cost everyone a lot of money.

They could make the ACC a P3. I'm not sure of the financials.
The on-field or on-court credentials would match the others.
I don't see why Notre Dame would sign up for direct competition with the biggest brands in the country.
They have a great brand but they aren't churning out the massive amounts of alumni that OSU, Michigan, Texas etc are.
Same with FSU and Clemson to a degree. If you get in the same ballpark with money...staying on top is easier in the ACC.

How many conferences have actually broken up? Even CUSA survived.
That isn't a reason to block it.
BC, Wake etc will be around keeping the lights on after everyone moves out.

Perception becomes reality
It doesn't matter if our 14 teams are projected to earn more the next 10 years. It doesn't matter that we've won 4 if the last 10 ball championships and have the second most football championships.
Right now the perception is that everyone is about to leave. Ignoring the fact that noone is leaving for the Big12. Their GOR comes open again soon and we'll still be together.
They are perceived to have momentum. They've also benefited from being a small conference in both payouts and basketball metrics.
I predict both will suffer as they become a 16 team league.
