great to have 12 games a year where everyone hates you.

The on-field or on-court credentials would match the others. I don't see why Notre Dame would sign up for direct competition with the biggest brands in the country. They have a great brand but they aren't churning out the massive amounts of alumni that OSU, Michigan, Texas etc are. Same with FSU and Clemson to a degree. If you get in the same ballpark with money...staying on top is easier in the ACC.

I don't think they came away with such a positive impression about what it would be like to play a full ACC football schedule every year.

Big10 got the 4 best brands from the PAC. SEC got the 2 best brands from the Big12. The Big10 will have weekly football games that include Ohio State, Michigan, Penn State, USC, UCLA, Oregon, and Washington... with Nebraska and Wisconsin right up there. DANG that is a tremendous lineup of inventory. The SEC will have weekly football games that include Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee, Florida, Texas, Oklahoma, Texas A&M, Auburn... with Arkansas, Mississippi and MSU right up there. The ACC will have weekly football games that include Clemson, Florida State, Miami... with maybe UNC, Va Tech right up there... and maybe a wildcard of ND. The Big10 and SEC have separated themselves with their deep inventory. The ACC can still be successful, and maybe the P2 talent gets overly distributed between all those... but the ACC and B12 will not be seeing nor deserve SEC/Big10 money anymore.

Long term demographics favor comparable ACC and B12 teams relative to the mid tier SEC and B1G teams IF the conferences can stay within punching distances financially.

but most current B1G teams reside in states with stagnant or declining populations, whereas the SEC and portions of the Big12 and ACC have teams in states with rapidly growing populations. Over the long term this will manifest itself in many ways, such as alumni base, exposure, etc. Again - it may take decades and right now the B1G has the biggest schools and biggest alumni bases, but eventually the sun belt (not conference but geographic) schools will move ahead of those B1G schools in enrollment. UCF and USF are examples - and one of them is in a "P5" now and the other will be soon.

got arguably 2 of the to 5 brands in the Nation. the same can be said about USC to the B12. We are not talking about top in the conference, but the top brands in the nation. If Michigan and Ohio State were poached by some conference 15 years ago, the BIG would be a shell of itself. The same can be said about the SEC if Bama Georgia and LSU were poached. List the top 10 football brands in all of college football. it is there you will find schools that will be invited to either the BIG or SEC. The rest of us will just have to knock them off their pedestal. Get another Frank Beam, and KU will meet you in the Orange Bowl.

SEC expanded mostly for cultural fit when the right schools become available (big state schools where football is king and stadiums are full) - cases in point include USCe, TAMU, Missouri (something of a push), Arky. B1G - arguably football prowess isn’t a real consideration. They want populated markets for their network. Viewership didn’t particularly matter with their model. So there was little need to create compelling TV matchups. That’s why Rutgers and Maryland were good gets for them. When their business models change, then they target pickups will change. For the rest of us, it is important to try to create an environment where these two conferences are no longer rewarded for raiding other viable ones, as well as to find our own business model built for the long haul, not to try to catch up overnight.

So is USC. So is ND. what after those? Ohio State, Michigan, then who? Top 10? How would you fill that out? I've got 3 SEC teams of the top of my head. That puts us at 9, but I'll admit, it's subjective. Does Penn state and Nebraska round out the to 10? Would you add FSU to that? Honestly, at this point (Oregon and Washington aside), who REALLY rates a move to those conferences like USC, UCLA, Texas, ans Oklahoma? If we aren't going to a P2 break away from college football as we know it, then we are done expanding the P2. They got all except ND. I'm not implying that there aren't schools in the ACC that could not compete in that group, I'm implying that expansion in the P2 is over.

for nationally known football "brands" (not necessarily recent performance) I would put Texas on the top 10, but probably not Oklahoma Top 5 is easy - probably (and not in any particular order) ND, Alabama, Michigan, Ohio State, Texas or USC tied, the next 4 a little tougher - maybe Georgia, Nebraska, one of the big Florida Schools (FSU/UF), maybe Penn State or aTm (because they are so massive)? OU close but not sure if they crack the top 10. Again - nationally known "brands". I admit I have an east coast slant but these are the national brands I see the most whenever I go out in public

Too many eyeballs there. They just have to make the numbers work. What that will include? too many variables right now.
