I think the B1G is going to dominate College Football in this era, not the
SEC. Already starting to see it as they have won the last 3 CFB playoffs. And they may, just may, dominate men's CBB also. Men's CBB has been unique over the past 25 years in that no single conference has dominated - multiple championships spread across multiple conferences (minus the B1G until last year!).

and major level "college" BBall is now a minor-league pro sport
except I think in the NBA you can get fined for criticizing refs - in "college" I don't think you do - maybe get suspended for a game if it's bad enough but you still get to keep the $$$$

Stability is a good thing and LSU has to be one of the most unstable
programs in CFB - yes they have a lot of moeny and resources but many of their supporters and boosters seem to be certifiable and willing to set money and coaches on fire

I watched VT games and some of the bowl and playoff games
but very few during the regular season, a lot less than I used to. Partly because I found other things to occupy my time and partly with VT's decline I became less interested.

Perhaps, but I also think it's Cignetti - looks like a once in a generation
master motivator and leader. Indiana hit the lottery - and sometime it takes luck to win. I am not sure this can be duplicated as a model. Lane Kiffin, Ryan Day, Dan Lanning, even Kirby Smart - all these highly regarded coaches have not even come close to what Cignetti has done this year, even with their 3-4 5 star and 25-30 4 star player rosters. Clemson did a similar thing when they stumbled into Dabo - they found that guy who could really get through to the players and get them motivated unlike anyone else in CFB (Saban could too but at that time he had endless resources and used them to their full potential). Indiana looks unstoppable right now because they are motivated, playing as a team, and focused unlike any other team (although Miami is playing at the highest level too). They are the anti Texas Tech.

I think 3 out of the final 4 never won a national championship before
That is good to see, this year has surprised me because I thought it would be either UGA or OSU and both lost in the quarters. None of these teams are really "blue bloods". Miami has won 5 MNCs but they ever seemed to me like a "blue blood", more like the nouveau riche - tolerated but never in the "club"

One observation I have made about the SEC is this: Nick Saban's arrival
elevated the entire conference. Prior to Saban arriving at LSU the SEC was good, but the other P5 conferences were pretty close to the SEC's level in terms of National Championships since the Bear left Bama. Between 2001 and 2022, The SEC won 12 championships (Bama 6, LSU 3, UGA 2, Auburn 1). Even when they didn't have a team win, there was an SEC team in the Final game. Since then they haven't even had a team in the championship game (only 3 years but they literally had a team in the championship game (sometimes both were SEC teams!) for the past 20 years (2014 OSU-Oregon only exception).
I think it is interesting, and whether you like or dislike Saban, the SEC appeared more dominant when he was there. Now the B1G has the best chance to win for the 3rd year in a row.

100% - and the SEC knows how to market itself as a brand - they have been
better at it than the others for the past 25 years and their fans are 100% all-in. Their fans root for their "hated rivals" (rivalries have been diluted with these mega-conferences and many are slowly disappearing) to win games for the reputation of the conference above all.

I live in the Tampa Bay area and honestly even that far south in the state
I don't come across a whole lot of them. I see 10X the USF folks and even many times more UCF folks than Miami.

Curious - how full was the stadium? I am just interested to see how well
attended these games are. I know that numerous tickets can be gotten for all the other playoff games.

Even though he did win a National Championship last year I never thought
Ryan Day was a TOP tier coach. Sure he's got all the resources in the world and has won a lot of games and he is a good enough coach but I have seen him get outcoached by supposedly inferior teams several times. Whether it's the inability to motivate his nearly endless talent or in-game decisions he just doesn't seem to be on the level of Smart or Cignetti, who are a couple coaches that seem to get the most out of their players. Day is in the Sarkisian-type league of coaches - resources galore but can't quite get the most out of those resources.
