I have watched this debate play out countless times on these boards but, I have yet to see anybody propose concrete and realistically achievable outcomes that would have prevented the current situation. and rivalries, I just do not think having or not having them changes the ACC's current position significantly. The league's current position is driven by demographics and performance as compared to the SEC and BIG. They need to win on the field with more than Clemson to get closer to SEC, something WVU has not really done in this time. They need larger schools with rabid fan bases that drive media numbers like the BIG. WVU has a great fan base, is larger than some schools but, did not provide the TV sets under the old linear model that would move the numbers. However, under the new emerging metrics of streaming they are a stronger candidate media wise. I get people(not you) want to blame everything on Swofford. However, I believe, at least until to someone makes an argument differently with concrete examples of how, that he played the hand he was dealt the best he could.
