SEC moving to a 9 game schedule starting next year
Looks like each team will have 3 permanent/annual opponents, and rotate through the remaining 12 in two year increments.
I’m curious as to who everyone’s permanent three will be. For the Sooners, texas is the obvious one. And maybe Mizzou for the second given the history. But no idea on who the third might be. LSU, A&M, or maybe Arkansas?

It also sets the stage for the SEC adding 4 more schools and going to 5-team divisions.
Texas/OU/aTm/Missouri (Kansas will be #5)
LSU/Arkansas/OleMiss/MissSt (I think Kentucky shifts here when 3 ACC schools are added)
Bama/Auburn/Tennessee/Vandy (I see UVA or VT headed here)
Florida/UGA/South Carolina/Kentucky (Clemson and UNC end up here with Kentucky shifting to the LSU division)

the system is being rigged for the P2 either way, but if the 4th or 7th place teams in those two conferences get auto bids, that will turn many many people off!!!

That's why they wanted the automated bid, I guess they will compromise if alll go to nine and then get concensus witth SEC ACC model. and expand to 14-16

is all we are going to see for Automatic Bids. Good grief they will probably get more than 8 for 16 or 14 for 24, but the optics is awful for everybody not following a B1G or SEC school.

The ACC, with unequal payouts, will make sure the top 3 or four brands are playing each other every year. This will maximize conference/ESPN revenues and flow right back to the top 3 or 4 brands.
How do you break that never ending cycle that perpetuates the status quo?

ACC is in full preservation mode at this point. FSU, Clemson, Miami and Louisville are getting taken care of. Georgia Tech and UNC have a chance to edge their way into that top level for more money as well.
Everyone else, including VT, needs to look out for themselves and not rely on the ACC or ESPN or the P2 to help them at all. Self promotion, increase self generated revenue, and of course win games. That's the only way to escape the hamster wheel we are now on.

Louisville has worked their way up to be among the top group for ACC viewership. Which means they will be set to make a lot more ACC money.

The SEC would not do this unless they had pressure and/or money from ESPN. And they would not do it unless it either helps or doesn’t hurt their playoff opportunities.
My guess is we see a single model be pushed heavily soon. There will not be anymore public disagreement between the SEC and BIG on the playoff expansion.

But I'm sure they'll regularly schedule (perceived weak) ACC teams as a season opener, in their (Atlanta) home (conference) stadium. Only those that will almost guarantee a win for the SEC.

We need to take advantage of only having 8 games to schedule up.
Just looking at VT, we should hit up all of the top B12 and whoever we can get from the P2 as our OOC games. No more Wofford. Phase out the G6. Go hard and control what we can.

1. The SEC and BIG 10 at 9, you can bet more scheduling deals within the 2 conferfences. Then the two will be reserved to OOC games rivals stay (FSU Fl Ga TEch GA, Clemson or SC. Ky and Louisville. but bottom line both p2 schools will quit playing group of 5 programs and the ACC or Big 12 become the Group of 5 and we can expect the power 2 not doing home nad home.
Also, if the rules for CVB power 4 is you must play 9 games or conference is not powe 4. well.
Than also if SEC and BIG 10 available schoools will be limited, whats the market to have great match ups of NC St versus Kansas
We know behind the scene the next play for expansion is 30-31. The Power 2 and the media partners will pick of he remaining successful financially sound well branded schools. you got 3 years for a chance. get the money and run.
After that the remaining schools will slowly fade away, no interest, more and more financially fading away

ND of course won't count it, but with the new selection criteria giving more value to winning over highly ranked teams and less of a penalty over losing to a highly ranked team, why not count them?
PS I love it when I hear that FSU and Clemson want in the SEC and B1G, but want to keep an 8 game schedule.

for wins is going up and losses to them is going down, penalty wise.
So if someone beats a weak Wake team, it won't help them a lot, and if you lose to a highly ranked ND, it may not even hurt you, and if it is close it might help you as it should. That's why we are not playing ODU at ODU and we will be playing them less. These changes are often known way before the public knows them.
