Mark Berman, Roa Times….
What is this guys deal with VT? Today has an article about the former coach and Georgia. Seems like this is an unnecessary dig at Hokie fans. I don’t know his backstory.

Never Understood why the local paper is so anti-VT over the years. This guy Berman is a jag-off who likes to stick it to Tech. Enough! I always liked reading a newspaper, but this is bs. Good bye. ** Edited by vtchem75 at 3/16/2025, 12:42:00 PM

Clickbait for RT Why did KB mention VT shirts in stands? Move on
Don’t see a point in giving the interview. Find one’s about Pitino and Iona or KB and JMU after he left or CMD and Marquette? Don’t know what went down with the AD and Admin but that’s not my concern. And he should be like Calipari who at Arkansas donated to KY flood victims and asked others to do so. Be a mensch.

Thought it was a wonderful story!
Glad it’s working for him, his players and his family! Grateful for his time here, ACC Championship, Regular Season Championship! Believe we are in good shape and have a bright future (this off season portal activity we tell a lot).

Well, I can't be *that* magnanimous about it ....
He took Clara Strack with him. If he'd just left Clara Strack, I'd actually be okay with the whole thing. Kidding/not kidding. 😅 Here's the thing about Kenny Brooks and Buzz Williams ... they were accomplishing everything they needed to here, yet they still left. Buzz's 2018-2019 team was good enough to win a national championship, if Justin Robinson hadn't gotten hurt (and *especially* if Chris Clarke hadn't gotten kicked off the team). Kenny went to a Final Four, and if he could just coach a lick in the fourth quarter, he would have made the championship game, and (I think) won the natty. I think that's the biggest reason fans are upset with both. It wasn't like VT screwed up the situation with either coach. They were both doing very well here, and both had lifetime tenure, if they'd wanted it. But neither wanted it. That speaks to a "VT isn't good enough" mentality for both, and that, my friends, is what rubs so many Hokie fans the wrong way. You can talk about money, resources, and other factors all you want, but I think that's the essence of it. It's the jilted lover syndrome. "I gave you everything I had, and you still walked out."

still curious how J-rob made a difference
we still made it to the sweet 16... your going to face a good team regardless.. we actually got a cake walk into the sweet 16 after Miss st lost. Beating a 13 and 12 seed is easier the beating a 15 then 7 seed if VT managed a 2 seed

I’m still salty about that Robinson injury.
That was a great team and he was a dominant point guard.

And it happened on a meaningless play in a blowout.

Yep. Given how this team did this year, if he stays with Amoore/Strack
He competes with ND and NC State to win the ACC. He likely coaches himself into at least 2-4 losses in the ACC but can still win it. We beat Iowa and Michigan and don't lose those games against weaker teams. We have a good chance to get 1 or 2 seed with maybe a 2-3 loss season. Maybe 2 season given how good USC, UCLA. UConn, and South Carolina (and Texas) have been...but still... top 8 team with 2-4 losses? Then after Amoore leaves, you have Strack with more experienced guards... He could have accomplished goals here. In the SEC, I doubt he wins the SEC as long as Staley is at USC. And he will coach himself out of winning the 4th quarters against great teams. He didn't go into Kitley in the 4th against either Iowa or LSU (I forget which) until late in the game. Probably thinking of LSU since it was in the tournament,...though maybe both...when we could have fed her the ball. We need to get over the Berman hate just because he asks tough questions (that fans want to ask too).

My opinion was Kenny wanted to get out of rural america.
He seems like the guy that wants more of the " finner" things in life. Something SW virginia couldn't offer

The dislike of Berman......
had almost nothing to do with asking tough questions, at least in my case, and I expect others. It has everything to do with the way he does his job. He's a worm trying to be the second coming of Bill Brill but, lacking the real arrogance of a Duke pedigree and, even more importantly, actual knowledge and a feel for the job.

It appeared that KB had checked out (& had his new gig lined up)well before
the Hokies' postseason had ended. And he didn't feel like a "thank you, Hokie Nation" or "Peace out" to the fanbase was appropriate. CMD is a refreshing change.

I guess I understand most of that,
Sometimes I think many of us don’t grasp the world has changed, many many players don’t stay 2 years much less 4 years, yet we accept those that portal in gleefully. Coaches are the same, here temporarily. I prefer to enjoy the time and successes they provide us with. You can say with some validity he had coaching shortcomings, but who else won ACC championships? We better include in our judgements of coaching abilities “ talent acquisition”. No one will have kids for four years anymore. Looking forward to this year’s portal season for WBB to continue by personal evaluation of current staff, expect success

well said. I agree completely. No need to play the jilted lover card.
We're on the map now and that's a good thing. I still love watching Georgia play.

Many are only as good as our BOSS, Gallop says millions leave due to BOSS.
They have surveyed millions over decades and it’s by far the number one reason why they leave a job they enjoy. Frank Beamer was going to leave family, friends and a place he called home for the UNC job because of the BOSS. I mean think about it, he verbally accepted the job, but changed his mind, when he was given veto power over his BOSS. So don’t get mad at those guys, get mad at their BOSS!!! PS It’s time for Virginia Tech to put on their Big Boy or Big Girl pants and hire an A+ AD, C+ will no longer cut it, we are about to lose on some amazing opportunities if we don’t make a change NOW!!! ** Edited by Stech at 3/16/2025, 10:47:04 AM ** Edited by Stech at 3/17/2025, 11:26:23 AM

I mean the thing that burns me is that this year's KY team would have been
VT's team this year. When you look at who is playing (Georgia, Clara, Silva, Hassett), those are players that would be starting for us this year and we would comfortably be in the NCAA. But nope, as you said KB decided he was too good for VT and took all those players/recruits with him to KY. I love our new coach and our team this year, but we're now back in rebuild mode because of KB's ego.
TomTurkey TomTurkey
Wasn't too good. Got an offer he couldn't refuse.
Liz gone. Non-starters deficient in development and/or experience. Maybe top third of either conference with Georgia. She's gone next.
UpstateSCHokie UpstateSCHokie
We would still have Clara, Georgia, and Hassett. Those 3 alone would have
been enough to get this team into the tournament this year.

100%. The only real concern I would have with that is that CKB was
was 100% reliant on Liz and Georgia's amazing offensive prowess . Completely unstoppable. What kept VT winning that final 4 game was the general malaise he had toward the rest of the team. Give me Coach Duffy with this year's team, plus Strack, Georgia, and Silva, that's a title contender.

Would have been good enough to win the ACC or 2nd to ND/NC State

I lost faith in KB’s coaching ability after he could not figure a way to…
stop FGCU from draining 3s in the tournament game played @ MD. From that game on, I never thought he was anything but an average coach.
