Posting History (189)

In case you missed it. ESPN ranked this Virginia Tech Miami game a classic

Logan Thomas was sensational. David Wilson was great. And Alonzo Tweedy tackled like Alonzo Tweedy. 2011 and Lane Stadium was rocking! Mike Patrick called it one of the best games he'd ever seen. This should be required viewing for all players, staff and any who need to see what home-field advantage looks like. Hope there are some more of these in our near future. It's game 74 if I screwed up the link.

Have you seen their schedule? Soft as Charmin. Again.

We might be the toughest team on their schedule. If they were the toughest team on our schedule, we'd be looking at 8, or something close to it. I'm expecting/hoping 27 to be the real turnaround year for us, but they should win a lot of games this year just because of their schedule. That doesn't mean they are good.

I for one will really miss watching Kylie hit next year.

As a baseball coach, I love to watch players with a mastery of the strike zone and a beautiful swing. It's also fun to watch players with a relentless drive to get better. Just a terrific player and teammate. Blessings, Kylie!

Completely agree. Everyone has an incentive to lie.

So I don't believe anyone when they say they know for sure regardless of their sources. Would like more transparency though.

Teel said on today's podcast that NEO didn't get anywhere close to $4m

Said it was probably closer to half that. I don't know who's right and don't really even care very much, but he said he was pretty well sourced on this one and the $4.5 million number was fanciful. Claimed they started the bidding at $1.5 and worked up from there by dropping a commitment to a freshman. Worth a listen.

Unfortunately UVA is much better off with Mox gone

I never thought she was much of a coach and underperformed relative to her team's talent level. But apparently, after winning a couple of tournament games, there was a sense with the fan base that she earned an extension. The staff and player abuse killed that and they have so much money to throw around they almost have to do better. Plus, she won't be there to run players off, mismanage her roster, and mismanage the games. I was really hoping they'd keep her. Also can't believe they ended up ranked 19 when they were 8th in the ACC. They got a big boost from one major upset.

David, do you think there is any chance they would return?

I assume it's highly unlikely, just curious if you have any thoughts on the matter.

David described it as cheeky, which is spot on

I also think it's somewhat disrespectful to your opponent when you are up 15. Really surprising since he did the same thing with the same result earlier this year. And I love Ben's game. I was sort of glad they capitalized and made it close to reinforce why you don't do things like that. I'm sure he heard from Coach Young.

Would have been a hard game to lose, but a great game to win

They have some serious height inside. Kilah was really battling. Love the scrap from this team.

Teams combined to shoot 34 for 119 (28.6%) from field today.

Don't think I've seen that in a while, but I have to believe we're in the tournament now. You certainly would hate to lose a game like that.

That happens too. You're talking about contested plays for the most part

against a taller team. Most of the "one foot shots" were more difficult than that description sounds. But have it your way.

I thought we played very hard and smart for the most part

Loved the offensive rebounding against a taller team. Think we have a winner of a coach and will continue to get better. She has a calm demeanor on the sideline and seems to enjoy the game. As she instills that in her players we will only get better. Really good defense tonight and the athleticism and scrap of the team make them fun to watch.

Love the women's team, but that screaming fan

is driving me crazy. I guess if she's bothering the Heels more, I'm good with it. Women playing great.

I think we'll learn a lot from this game

Kilah is a terrific rebounder just needs stronger hands on the ball and to keep it closer to her body They can clean up the turnovers and Notre Dame is a good team, along with Duke, to get the team ready for aggressive defense. Hidalgo is annoying but she's a good test for our guards. We shot the ball well, which was good. I think we talk a lot of positives away from the game. We'll get better, Duffy is a good coach.

Will, somebody needs to ask a tough question about these end-of game

meltdowns. Like why do we play such soft defense (is it worth avoiding a foul to give up layups), why do we have so much trouble inbounding the ball, why does our offense grind to a halt. I like Coach Young but a journalist should ask him these uncomfortable questions.

Yeah and you never leave your feet with nowhere to go with the ball.

It's just interesting to me that he makes mistakes I wouldn't expect a good high school player to make. His shooting on the year is also less than 42% and about 31% from 3. I'm not sure what kind of shooting night is normal for him. He's clearly got lots of potential but lots to learn.

Two things can be true. Mike Young is a good coach and

We play like a bad rec team with a lead at the end of games. This has happened too many times. We don't seem to learn from mistakes made and Young has to address that. We might also agree that Avdalas has a a great future, but right now he makes a ton of mistakes when the game is tight. Finally, it doesn't make you a bad fan to point out obvious issues when the team wins.

Pretty much. You could inbound the ball the length of the court and they

would have run out of time. Guarding the inbound equally indefensible. Kids will miss front ends of one and ones. Coaches have to smarter. I've seen this movie way too many times.
