If you would honestly say it equally to a group of men and women then fine, but that's not the case 99% of the time, and if it IS the case here it's very easy to not be misinterpreted by just being aware of it and not saying it.

I don't think anyone on the planet could close the gap between VT and P2 programs barring a VT billionaire funding the team out of their pocket (The SMU approach). We'd have to increase revenue by 50% just to catch Clemson (whose days as a championship contender may be over barring a jump to the P2 since their own revenue is continually falling behind) and almost double it to catch PSU's and even they are quite a bit behind programs like OSU. Anyone who could come close to that kind of change would be in the fundraising hall of fame. We should be competitive in the ACC and be able to win it occasionally, but the teams competing for the title are not going to be our peers without earth shattering changes in the NCAA as a whole to level the playing field and make money less important.

What makes you think that we're peers with playoff contenders and national championship teams? We've had 2 seasons where we were championship contenders and they were both over 20 years ago We haven't even competed for an ACC championship in almost a decade and haven't won it in 15 years. The reality is our peers right now are middle of the pack non-P2 teams and lower tier P2 teams

Franklin comes in close
