Posting History (37)

Just read this article. I did not know about this earlier. "Kenny being

Kenny." Balderdash. Looks to me like he loves his babies until he doesn't love them anymore. "Character is revealed under pressure."

It's hard to resist the idea that Brooks did not have his full heart and

mind in the Baylor game and probably other games at the end of the season, since he was talking to Ky and was planning to leave. Same with the guys who hit the portal so quickly. You have to think their interest was elsewhere by the end of the season and were just playing it out to the end. Like a person who gives a two weeks notice of resignation -- interests are with the new employer at that point.

No doubt that there are restrictions but if written

Properly by an attorney (I am not an attorney) they are definitely enforceable.

They may not sign them, but I can guarantee you that non-competes

are enforceable in the business world. I do this for a living and can testify that they hold up.

It's been a long time ago but If memory serves,

I believe UNC was opposed to the expansion that included VT, Miami and BC and Syracuse. I'm certain that UNC was opposed to VT joining the conference on every occasion in the past 50 some odd years. I've forgotten the specifics -- someone help me here -- but I believe VT was one vote away from being included in the 1970s and I seem to remember that NC State voted for us. Will has the history of all of this in his archives somewhere. This is one reason I'd like to keep the ACC together. We worked so doggone hard to get into the ACC and, for the most part, it's been pretty good to us. Of course, I'm an old codger who grew up in ACC territory, listening to the Dixie Classic on the radio at night.

I thought the author of the piece did a very good job

of taking the available information and putting it into context, plus adding some additional insight. Good work.

It's worth remembering that

We spent over 50 years trying to get into the ACC and we should think long and hard before leaving it. We were the red-headed step-child for many years. I take second place to no man in my disdain for UNC, but State, Duke, Clemson, UVa, Wake are all schools that I grew up with as a young man. I could do without BC and Syracuse and I'm not thrilled with Miami, but am in tune with the traditional ACC schools. Would that USC and Maryland were still in the ACC where they belong.

The ACC was foolish not take WVa early on.

They meet the geography footprint and there are a long time rival with VT and, to some extent, with UVA. Plus, they have a history of having a good football program. With the Big 12 expansion, it now may be too late.

I’m shocked, shocked

That there is sarcasm and mockery on this board ….
