Posting History (907)

That’s my feeling, don’t know for sure

but I feel CMD threw down the gauntlet at the BOV meeting, if we want to be successful, she needs a little help. Ignoring her would possibly lead to a big disappointment

Agree 100%. Score early and often, play your back ups after the game is in

hand, give them the same plan as your starters. Big margins of victory get national attention ( VMI is being handsomely compensated, as wells as ODU, they could say no)

A lot of nice puzzle pieces have been dumped on the table

Can CMD put them together to make a Team that’s competitive with the top four of the league? We’ll know late January. I won’t get fooled by crushing Big South and So Con opponents. Let’s beat a NC, Louisville, Duke, NC State, let’s not get crushed in first round of Big Dance. Really all I’m saying is, take a step forward, can we do this, I think we can

We’ve had several WBB players at this height, in recent times they’ve been

developmental, could this one be ACC ready? Sounds promising! We need this to work to progress this year

A quality recruit for sure! The CKB recruits cycled out a little faster

than anticipated (Nelson & Baker), so retooling is a must. Hopefully she can help fill Carleigh's shoes.

After watching the NCAA regional and super regionals, our ballpark is

below average for the successful programs, hope an update is in the near future

Georgia coming off a major injury, for most of the season so far has been

on a minutes restriction, I think the Mystics will be patient with her. As for Liz, I think you’re right, has a real future in broadcasting.

The fact that you understandably ask this question points to our

weakness in fundraising. It really isn't clear how to support WBB's NIL needs. CMD made it crystal clear at the BOV meeting that she needs NIL funds. We can only hope with the new fund-raising leadership this type of question will be answered. CMD made the need clear,it's up to Athletic Department leadership to respond. If CMD is ignored....we will be at risk. I don't think a campaign specific to WBB will detract from our football financial goals, as I believe they are two different donor bases.

The quote "we've hit the ceiling of doing more with less"

Is a bit sobering for those of us who want WBB to compete for ACC Championships (get in the top 4). Couple concerns: We've got a pretty enthusiastic fan base, will it remain so if we're a perennial also ran? Will CMD grow weary of beating her head against the wall? She mentioned she does the negotiations, from what I've read that's not how UVa does it, it's done by an administration member. They are ahead of us in embracing this new world order (they actually have a good coach to go along with their money now, could be a problem.) But I am glad she said it out loud, first I've heard official recognition of funding issue. perhaps it will motivate increased NIL donations

It was and is a disappointment to lose

Baker and Nelson, but as stated it’s today’s environment, we just have to be players in that game

Of course she’s a valued Hokie!

Played 4 years, major contributor to rare ACC championship, several career records, no banner in the rafters without her ! Forever a Hokie ! Wishing her major success after bouncing back from significant injury

It's really just the reality of retail business in Blacksburg

From next Monday through late August, the retail establishments struggle mightily as our population drops about 30,000. (Actually I enjoy the peace and quiet !) Glad I'm not an owner or investor in Blacksburg retail. As you drive through town on Main, take notice of the empty shops. Our 6-10 big weekends a year will carry them but so far

Sooo....Blocking off hotel rooms a year in advance, denying them from

families wishing to witness a once in a lifetime achievement for a young family member would be a potential answer, don't think so. Basically, hosting a regional on graduation weekend is not a possibility at this University. There are a few hotels in the local development pipeline that perhaps will help in the future

That's possible, but I recognize he's an accomplished roster builder, which

is more than half the battle. His recruiting successes, Liz being the greatest, are numerous

Not sure β€œcrowd funding” NIL really makes a meaningful difference

Probably takes a motivated big donor or two, such as UVa has to move the needle. Suspect our deep pocket guys and gals are on the CJF train, at least for now. In the meantime a lot of us will buy the book and chip in

It takes time, but it’s year three, that’s plenty of time

in this day and age, we need a modest amount of success from the portal, which we may still obtain, it’s not over yet! We’ll know in January once we’ve played some ACC games

I’d expect she was a β€œlate bloomer”. If an athlete breaks through late in

high school, they are quite often overlooked as colleges focus on identifying prospects when they are much younger, so her options were likely limited. Quite sure CMD sees potential!

I'm sure a lot of us were, still time though, I don't draw conclusions on

the roster until mid-January, how do they perform versus ACC competition, this is year three, expect another step forward towards contender status. Sometimes we question talent acquisition, but I don't really question the staffs developmental skills, they can improve players over their past performance. I see Freelon as a recent example

Being a developmental program based on high school recruits is such a

quaint and adorable concept. Louisville is certainly going to enjoy our developmental skills. The past is...well....in the past.
