Why Would the SEC or B1G Want Miami?
I certainly get the attraction to Notre Dame and maybe UNC, and Clemson presently in football, but don't really understand why Miami keeps getting mentioned.
Other than winning titles 20 Years ago they haven't been reliant in football and they don't ever fill their stadium with fans. Miami, the city presents far better entertainment options and people go to them instead of seeing the Canes. The truth is we have a much better fan base than they do.
BTW, can't wait to see the empty LA Coliseum when Rutger s comes to town.

UCLA , USC, Texas, all suck in football too. Thats not what matters. They bring value with eyeballs.
People want to see Texas, not "Cinncinatti".

They want to go and play and recruit in Miami. The B1G doesn’t give a damn about rutgers and Maryland. They’re worthless universities in their eyes. But they love the TV revenue and recruiting opportunities. It’s the downside for UNC and VT. Fine universities and athletic departments. But they won’t add value or recruiting opportunities to the SEC or B1G

FSU gets into SEC before Miami, can see the SEC not wanting another Florida school.
I’d really like for VT, Clemson, NCST, and FSU to go SEC and agree to play Miami annually for indefinite. Add UF and maybe UCF and that’s already have a schedule made.
Only works if ND doesn’t join B1G so the independent model exists. Maybe even get non-fb teams into SEC in an anti-ND deal, instead of Nd’s deal to get them in the ACC, this would be an agreement to keep Miami out. Miami brings good baseball and other sports to SEC, cuts down on Miami travel to the far north.
Extra: if ND stays independent, they should also play Miami annually

they are in a major market in Florida. Always will be lots of talent, they will always spend enough money until they finally get the "right" pieces to the puzzle in place to where they become relevant in a meaningful way. The media loves the IDEA of Miami being a big time contender, and they'll promote Miami until they get their way.

Unless "the U" is actually "back" soon, the P2 will not be
taking their their talents to South Beach.
I think about UW out in Seattle right now.
-a quarter million more people in Seattle than Miami
-great following for the Huskies
-one of the greatest venues in college football (bucket list destination for me)
-AAU
-In technology and aerospace epicenter
-a state no other major conference has
And they are twisting in the wind right now. No invite from the B1G.
Believe it of not, I think the U's chances are better with the B1G than the SEC.

sorry to disagree but both MD and Rutgers are in premium markets with lots
of BIG alumni that will tune in or actually travel to watch their teams play at RU or MD. NY & DC
Miami metro is however within a reasonable drive of a large retired alumni base for BIG alumni making it attractive in that respect.
