Well to be fair, the older guys generally have underperformed
In the NCAAs over the last several years. Turns out wrestling 5-6 years in college wears a lot of guys out. It’s a grind and many peak earlier in their college career. I’m confident Caleb can get it done though but given the results since Covid it isn’t too hard to pick some younger guys to break through.

The odds.
So one of my good friends picked up Golf during Covid. For several years, his handicap was in the mid 20s. But he kept working at it and got a little bit better. Current handicap in the high teens. yesterday he had his first hole in one on a par three. Great shot, couple bounces and in the hole - 123 yards. Today he hits a second hole in one on another part three on the same course. This time about 138 yards, couple bounces and in the hole. So two hole in ones in two days. odds for the average golfer one in 156 million. Craziest thing I’ve ever seen in Golf.

Time to eat some crow.
After picking on professional soccer as a sport for decades I will have to admit this World Cup has been great. The stars have come to play for sure and we are seeing some of the best athletes in the world here in North America. Glad the US men have pulled together a much better team than we’ve put in the field in decades, maybe ever. They are much more fun to watch than the plodding US teams of recent past.
The last World Cup in America helped build MLS. Maybe this one will really push the sport even higher in the US. And I haven’t heard anyone complain about the transfer portal or NIL in weeks so maybe I’ll watch soccer more.

I watched that at the balcony after securing World Series tickets for
Pittsburgh earlier in the day. It was brutal.

I think his issue is endurance.
Of course no one his size can generally carry all those minutes. He’s barely walking down the court late in the game.
He’s still pretty young and developing basketball IQ.
If they redrafted the nba today he’d get drafted first especially hitting 3s.

Property taxes don’t likely have a lot to do with gas prices. State gas
Taxes are the big difference. Sorry California.
Not all gas stations ( or franchises) have agreements with every terminal. So they might have chosen Spartanburg to get better fuel prices but then they get hammered when diesel spikes. Also much more competition in Charlotte than Gastonia or similar markets and that dictates how much you can mark fuel up.

I’ve been involved with c stores for a long portion of my career
Usually price differences across states are driven by taxes.
Within states it usually is dictated by proximity to the supply terminals. The further away you are the more it costs you to transport it from the terminal to the c stores. And those transportation contracts are pretty much a passthrough of diesel costs for trucks with some modest mark up. So right now the cost of diesel is going to impact more right now with the increase in diesel cost the stations that are farther from the fuel terminals.
