base line. And then Barry left for SF that winter and Pirates have pretty much been in the wilderness ever since (a couple of wild card series don't really count).

I showed him a screenshot from one of the recent Braves/Pirates games, where a Pirates fan wore a shirt that said, "SID BREAM RUINED MY CHILDHOOD".

My mom had family connections that would have gotten us World Series tickets if the Pirates had made it.
- And yes, Bonds' throw to home plate was not good
- lot of people to this day say the runner was out and would have been overturned on today's replay ability
- Andy Van Slyke motioned to Bonds to play more shallow and the rumor is Bonds just flipped him off...

10 million years from now, when the sun has burned out and the earth is just a frozen iceball flying through space, it's not going to matter whether the Pirates were ever any good.

it will at least turn into the same state as Mercury is now. The Earth should remain in the Mercury-like state even in the white dwarf phase which scientists believe will last for 10^38 years. Once the Sun starts to crystalize, then the Earth might turn into a ball of ice (assuming it hasn't already started to break apart from being hit by something).

The Sun's outer shell will expand to about the orbit of Jupiter. The Earth will be consumed. But that's only about 5 billion years away.
You have no chance to survive, make your time.

Sun will get at its peak during the red star phase. That was one of them. Another theory suggested the outer shell would stop somewhere between Venus and Earth because it doesn't have enough of the "right elements" to grow to its full potential. A third theory suggested the Sun will grow to consume Mars too and stop either before the asteroids or somewhere in the field. At least the scientists aren't exactly sure what all will happen when the Sun enters the red-giant branch (RGB).

one of my required classes for my 3 minors, so I had to settle for geology. The only way I have kind of kept up with astrophysics is because I enjoy watching shows/documentaries on either NatGeo, Discovery, or any similar scientific channels that I can get via one of my subscriptions on my Roku 2. Also, at lunch I will scan Google News Science Section to see if there are any interesting articles on it that day.
