Posting History (233)

You are 100% correct…

They were the luckiest team in the country last year. They seemed to get every bounce, every spot, every break - until it really mattered in the championship game vs Duke. They are catching a break this year with another easy schedule - but I don’t see them living a “blessed” life like they did last year. Probably a 6 win team which all Things considered is still a great season for them and above their norm.

I’m not a PSU fan or Alum - but…

PSU is in no way, shape or form a dying program. I’ve lived in the heart of PSU land for going on 3 decades now. PSU alums to the left and right of me, more across the street. Most of them season tickets holders for years. PSU flags all over. Magnets on cars. Constant coverage and chatter about Coach Campbell. All positive. PSU is a way of life up here. An institution for century plus. I don’t like them - but they aren’t a dying program - and probably never will be because their fanbase gives a crap and has been around forever.

Wondering how you arrived at the 3 schools….

That you said will be left out. UC and UCF have had more football success than many of the current ACC and B12 schools - most recently more than VT. Also have to consider what UC brings in terms of all sports as well. Might want to revisit that.

That’s not correct my friend…

The Y is a huge part of the air raid. In the true air raid you see a TE or TE type body lined up as an inside receiver. There is a whole Y package in the air raid - Y-Sail, Y-stick, Y-cross, Y-shallow to name a few. Putting a TE in the Y creates matchup problems for the D too - do they match up with a DB or LB. A good TE in the air raid is like gold.

Did I say anything about coaches?

Read again - I mentioned the kids 3 times not one word about coaches. Call BS when you see it. You basically vomited back up what I said. The kids deserve the praise.

They play is the toughest conference in America

Took PSU to the final minutes. One of the best defenses in the B10. Mediocre is a bit harsh.

To be honest I expected this but proud…

Of the effort the kids gave tonight. Grossly outmatched with all the defections and still had chances to win the game in the 4th. Just didn’t make enough plays on O - but I commend the kids that stayed and the new kids getting their first shot at extended time.

What does ECUs admission standards have to…

Do with them kicking State’s ass yesterday? Sounds so UVa. “We got beat but we take better students than you”. I don’t buy it either. State isn’t that academically superior to ECU. They both have good programs. But back to the topic at hand - ECU nailed another bowl victory over their perceived big brother then won the street fight. Go Pirates.

State has been chickenshot when it comes to ECU

Glad to see the Pirates whip that ass again. State thugs take the L. Love it. ECU and ASU are the only teams in NC worth giving a crap about in terms of football.

You’re right but BAMA fans need to remember…

Don’t get smoked by three scores by a .500 team late in the year and don’t lose to Vandy. BAMA had 3 losses. Who’s to say and wouldn’t be smoking BAMA like they are IU? I know you’re not defending BAMA so not directing this at you - but BAMA can whine all they want - they didn’t get it done on the field. IU beat the defending national champion and the runner up from last year. Just saying.

Only one man has won at Arizona - Dick Tomey

That is a graveyard job. The way RR was treated at Michigan - Jesus Christ himself might have struggled to win. 3 years from now remember this post. WVU is going to win big under RR.

Damn good for WVU

He’s the answer Bruno. You guys are going to roll. Great hire.

I find it amusing that we feel…

Our program is morally superior. I think Tech has been on probation once in my lifetime and I don’t remember WVU ever being on probation. I may be wrong but WVU had Coach Nehlen who is a class act. They had Coach Bowden. We had Jimmy Sharpe who was a great guy but struggled with off field stuff. Other than damn tough rivalry games and dealing with some of WVU rowdies in the stands - and trust me Tech has their share of jerks too - why we think we have the moral high ground in WVU. He’s going to win there and win there big. We could have made a run at getting him. I’d rather have him than fighting to get to that ceiling if 6 wins. Just saying.

Because we could have in this case…

He was an available, interested, a perfect fit for this fan base. Regional guy who proved successful at WVU. Dummy passed and hired an unproven coordinator. I hope Pry works out, he’s a likable guy. But you had a proven winner in RR ready to go to work. Blue collar guy for a blue collar program. Maybe Tech couldn’t afford him.

They hit the home run. We could have had him…

Dummy fumbled on the Pry hire. Spot the ball! WVU is going to be the best team in the area pretty soon. RR is the perfect fit there.

He did a great job at Jax State

He’s not perfect but I think he’s a damn good coach. He was my pick when Dummy hired Pry. Country Roads took him home.

Kid could be an impact player in the Sun Belt…

Not digging on him. He’s had 2 years to get a good read on where he is. I’d love to see ULM make a run at signing him.

Pop should start the bowl game and….

He was fantastic last night. Really was efficient and made some outstanding plays. I keep reminding myself he did this against UVa - who is pretty much pitiful on D - but loved what I saw from Pop just the same. He starts in the bowl no questions asked in my book.

I don’t think I was tearing him down..

Just stating the obvious he wasn’t as effective this year as last. Last year I think he was one of the most dynamic QBs in the country. This year not so much - for many reasons as you pointed out. But still not overly effective.

That was my question. I heard he already got his 1M ….

In NIL money. I agree with your points - 1M for his work this year was a bad investment. I like the guy but huge drop off from last year. Anyway good win tonight. That’s what matters tonight. Hats off to Pop.

I don’t follow as closely as I once did but did a Tech give Drones….

1M in NIL money? First, I know it’s the new world of CFB and I hate it - but second he looked like a different player all year - not in a good way. I hope it was an NIL deal worth a million based on incentives. If they flat out gave the kid 1M…,. Gotta wonder about motivation. I like the kid, just didn’t look like the guy from last year.

Thank God. It’s great once a year to be able to…

Sit back and watch Tech look like a really good football team. Thank God every day for the Cavaliers.

I hear ya but….

We can continue to hire high risk coaches with pitiful results too. I don’t need the pope, I want a winner. Spot the ball.

Following your lead from earlier on my post.

I’ll play. You could not be any more wrong about Coach Dooley. He was a shot in the arm after the 70’s with Coffey and Sharpe. The NCAA rang him up on by college football standards - a minor infraction. Yes he left Frank on probation, but he also took the program through its most sustained period of success since Claiborne. Yours Truly, Skippy

I disagree. He’s doing good things at Jax State.

I also think he fits Tech’s culture to a T - or at least what we used to be in football. Tough, hard Edge. He even has the accent that fits right in. Whit tried to be the smartest guy in the room hiring Pry. We know Whit is a football idiot and seeing the results now. Rich Rod would have put this roster on its head - brought a record of winning with him - with the exception of Michigan and the way he was treated up there - Jesus himself might have had a hard time winning games. I think Whit missed the boat. RR has crapped out more football knowledge than the entirety of our existing football staff.

The book about his time spent Michigan?

I did. Was an insightful read. ** Edited by VT-ACC at 11/27/2024, 6:59:35 PM

You’re right. Also the LBs…

Seemed to be catching a lot. Some of the ground level shots you could really see that. First contact 3-4 yards down the field. I was pretty disappointed with Delane on the first TD they got. It happens though - he got caught in between. I can’t be too angry with the O - they put up 31 without their best weapons. 31 should be enough to get the W.

Have to laugh at some of the posts…

Tech has been mediocre for well over a decade now and people are whining about “ugly” and “bad” wins. At this point any win is good. Conference win even better. I look forward to the day we can all whine about “style” points and pretty wins but for now - a Dub is a W. I’ll take it.

Drones had a tough day. He struggled…

It happens. Body language was terrible. Rutgers was excited to be competing today. Not sure I can say the same for the Fighting Pry’s.

Long way to go. Rutgers has Big10 talent….

Schiano is doing a good job getting RU better dudes. They have an identity - run first - physical D. They aren’t world beaters yet but they have a foundation. Before we totally melt down on how bad sucks - keep in mind RU gives scholarships too. They ain’t the RUTS Scarlet Knights anymore.

Vikings signed him in March. Didn’t play in the UFL…

He kicked for San Antonio last year in the XFL - never played in the new merged league.

No thank God…

The streets aren’t safe with Coach Few too Many driving around.

Can’t stand them - fans, Coach….

Guess they will play on into next week though. The media will go on and on about them - then someone will beat them by 30 and they will crawl back into the hole and coach Few will hit the watering hole before swerving his way through the streets of Spokane.
