Have to admit, I like PSU's style of play a lot more than CMY's, especially
in the current MBB world, where unlimited transfers makes having an older team that has played together for several years very difficult if not impossible, to achieve....and that's what CMY's fairly complex system needs. The PSU model is more free flowing and attacking (much like what I see and like from our WBB team).
Just a thought...

He comes from the Shaka Smart line but he's been able to put his own spin on it with some success
He has VA roots and doesn't need the high ranked kids to be successful. Also does an incredible job of identifying overlooked talent

Unfortunately like a similar discussion that was had about Mark Byington when he took the job at Vanderbilt...either he's going to do well enough there that leaving for a lateral job wouldn't be ideal
OR he wouldn't do very well and VT wouldn't want him. So unless he does just ok and VT wants to overpay, I just don't see it at the moment.

CMY must love his job because I can't see staying when you have to rebuild the roster every year. Must be frustrating for him.

He has specifically said that he loves coaching and working with the kids and developing them.
He knows what kind of situation he is in and the money limitations. And he accepts it because he really does love it and he does love being at VT.
CMY enables us to compete above our weight class. But we won't win consistently as much as fans want because of the spending choices by the administration.

class in addition to struggling against Winthrop. We've been a post season (NIT or NCAA) for a decade, beating ranked teams or going to the NCAAs isn't a surprise anymore. I think the expectations have been elevated and should be. I would love to hear MY talk or advocate more publicly about the support he does need.

but Men’s basketball is a break even sport at Virginia Tech and just about every other school. Ironically, if we start to win more in football, that’s when there will be more money for basketball. The ROI just isn’t there with the NCAA taking 85% of the NCAA Basketball tournament money and distributing across all NCAA sports.

ROI is definitely there, especially if you win. And I'm not saying we deprioritize football and I agree with your point about football getting the lion's share of resources. However, I don't think you need to wreck MBB in terms of funding to field a competitive football team.

with all these reports is getting to the real bottom line as it is dependent to at least some extent on accounting decisions and cost allocations. In addition, to those considerations it is also important to understand all the revenue sources to understand the implications of decision making. However, your contention that the ROI isn't there is not correct. Moreover, determining the true ceiling and floor ROI's for sports at VT is at best a challenge and more art than science given their accounting system.

won the Mens BBall championship in 2023 and reported a deficit of -$3.3 million in the sport for the FY. It was the highest revenue generator but also the most expensive.

the numbers, the football program netted 7 times that number, so it’s understandable why the money is being given heavily to football.
Personally, I want both to prosper and I don’t care the Conference, as much as we are able to compete at a high level. I also favor regional conferences over national conferences, because I think the games have more of a rivalry factor to them.

intentional on your part. Just trying to get you to understand the numbers may not be as static as you believe. Everybody knows that football is the cash cow, however, there is, or should be, a lot more than just the net variances involved in allocation decision making. Your other wishes are not unreasonable and likely common to lots of fans.

$5.7 million profit, $3.9 the year before that.
That's for FY 2023 and FY 2022. FY 2024 won't be available until next spring/summer.
