It's maddening to keep hearing people talking about a radical restructuring of the landscape. The SEC and B1G will fight tooth and nail to preserve the status quo and their enormous advantage over everyone else. The only way it changes is in court.

If you have time, Esplanade Ridge around City Park. New Orleans neighborhoods are like little communities, each one has a totally different feel and flavor. I can understand it's not for everyone but it's one of the most unique and culturally rich small cities in the world, so it's worth the time to explore. On a (much) larger scale, this map is kinda similar to saying you hate New York City when you've only really been to Times Square and a little Greenwich Village... Anyway I sincerely hope your future visits are better. I've dedicated much of my life since Katrina fighting for this city (at first, simply for survival). And I'm sorry you won't get to enjoy what Nola has to offer. But 1) the overwhleming majority of violent crime is restricted to areas you would never see - unless you plan on engaging in the drug trade 2) the murder rate and violent crime in general plummeted 40% in the first half of this year, about twice as steep as the national trend, and 3) these stats about Nola are always misleading because "New Orleans" is technically just the small footprint of Orleans Parish where the crime is most concentrated. Anyone who grew up in Metairie for example will tell you they're from New Orleans because they are, it's just not technically so. Either way I don't really think it's a nice thing to do to dismiss an entire city as a ****hole. But I appreciate that you edited your post. Still wrong though, as Nola is in fact extraordinarily pleasant (though not in this dastardly heat).

You seem to forget that less than a year ago, you were basically scrapping for outright survival. I'm thrilled the Big 12 HAD survived - getting the Pac 12 defectors was huge and likely saved you, which is great for college football. But for you to suddenly pound your chest like you're superior is downright laughable.

I think taking Utah with BYU already in the fold was dumb and definitely market overlap, but it was more about throwing Colorado, BYU, and more importantly Arizona a bone. Either way, the Big12 already HAD overlapping markets with Baylor only and hour from TCU (and Texas Tech not far from them). So SMU made zero sense. That's literally what I said. Per school, we each earned roughly $40 million. Overall network money is much higher for the ACC though. So your point is clearly incorrect.

As has been detailed repeatedly, Cal and Stanford wanted no part of the Big 12. It's simply inaccurate to suggest otherwise.

At only 10 members, the per school distribution is basically a wash (I'd prefer that to a sprawling super conference). But your statement is untrue. Obviously, things can - and will - change quickly as we move forward. I'm well aware that your contract comes up for renewal soon. That should be a good thing... but it's also very possible it's not.

This idea - particularly throwing SMU into the picture - is basically brand new.

Those that keep saying the Big12 "rejected" them are ridiculous. It's 100% untrue (and really the other way around). I know some are desperate to be the #3 ahead of the ACC but at least tell the truth.

SMU would obviously have been overlap with TCU, so of course the Big 12 wouldn't have taken them. But Stanford would've gone independent rather than Big12, and Cal also had zero interest.
