Sounds like a good rumor to make things appear more complicated then they are. The issue is if this were true, then it would absolutely need to be disclosed to Stanford, California and SMU. If not, then there is likely a major lawsuit in damages, as I'm sure those 3 schools would not want to join a conference knowing the 3 most valuable properties have colluded to leave.

Can those three schools afford to lose over half a billion dollars? Does the SEC and B1G want to add 2 schools that are already in SEC states? Does the SEC and B1G want to add schools that they won't have the TV rights to all their home games until 2036? Clemson isn't as wealthy as some people think. Would UNC really leave their beloved ACC? UNC always votes against expansion, It's in their DNA. Their catbird seat seems to get lower with every conference expansion. FSU has always complained. They didn't like the expansion in 2012. They always think very highly of themselves but are one of the reasons (terrible football in the late 2010's and early 2020's) the ACC is in predicament it is in now. Let's say FSU and Clemson and even UNC do leave in 5 years, that's more money for the remaining ACC schools for 7 more years. Who knows what will happen between now and 2036.

Clemson is not a wealthy university. They have generous football donors but they don't have the UNC or UVA money. FSU isn't wealthy either. Clemson would likley have to drop numerous sports.

In 10 years, I might buy that argument. But those teams are stuck if they really want to leave. They might as well enjoy the wait. I do think for most of the yes votes, it is about risk mitigation, however. There is safely in numbers now. This puts the ACC third in the pecking order, and we will likely stay there even past 2036, regardless of FSU.

Of its best schools, it will fall behind the big 12. Just losing Florida State and Clemson might drop us behind the big 12 at this point.

level. Big 12 and ACC should have scheduling agreements and maybe pool their media revenue deal. All the talking heads are saying conferences would collectively get more if they did so, like the pro leagues, as they would have leverage. The conferences can still be separate and would appease the academic snobs.

At only 10 members, the per school distribution is basically a wash (I'd prefer that to a sprawling super conference). But your statement is untrue. Obviously, things can - and will - change quickly as we move forward. I'm well aware that your contract comes up for renewal soon. That should be a good thing... but it's also very possible it's not.

That's literally what I said. Per school, we each earned roughly $40 million. Overall network money is much higher for the ACC though. So your point is clearly incorrect.
