Standford and Cal were desperate. SMU just wanted to move up at any cost. But the B12 schools don't want to be part of this sinking ship. As of today, the B12 is a more stable conference than the ACC.

For the next interim step It could be Fox and a 22 member Big vs ESPN and a 22 member SEC in what will effectively be Division 1. Then ESPN owning a Division 2 consisting of the ACC and B12 with about 40 teams and anybody else being a Division 3.

On the Accn, it's pointed out that the Acc contract is worth more than the Big 12 and more than the Pac 12, or that it would have been. Not the Sec level but not at the bottom. Fsu is making a bad decision imo, with the 3 added, the population of the Acc area and Nil appears to be helping the Acc. I think things are looking up. Fsu is being greedy, or fearful, bitter, whatever it is, it's shortsighted.

full GOR and the rest of the conference stays intact. THEN the ACC schools plow their share of the payouts into their revenue programs. THEN SMU becomes a real revelation in revenue sports (remember here that the media rights money is not that big a factor to them. They have money. They need opportunity). THEN NIL changes the playing field in unforeseen ways relative to the P2. THEN the ACC starts becoming a whole lot more competitive and gets rewarded in 2036. In the meantime, F$U is having to deal with the costly divorce, and reduced payouts from the B1G, which is really its presumptive landing spot. I don’t see the B1G letting F$U having their version of the LHN as they said they were exploring, by the way.

Also remember that Texas and Oklahoma just left. And Texas A&M, Nebraska and Missouri left not long ago. FAR from stable. (That’s worse than if the ACC lost FSU, Clemson, Miami, UNC, and VT).

They've had teams coming in and out for the past 15 years, so maybe they are accustomed to volatility.

This is if they are interested. The Big XII has exit fees too. I would do USF to backfill FSU, and then probably San Diego State, Colorado State, and possibly Oregon State. The Washington State academics are significantly worse than Louisville, so I don't see that one. But you never know. But I don't see the ACC wanting to do something like this now. They will work on integrating Cal/Stanford/SMU first. Also depending on what happens with the FSU situation determining what the ACC looks like after that.

teams will get 49M this year, and the ACC will get 41M. Pretty sure you will not cherry pick and leave the 4 corners behind. I think teams like Wake and BC may be left behind if the ACC doesn't make it.
