Who did you beat out for Colorado ect? Lol

Why the insecurity?
Cal and Stanford didn't want to go to the Big 12. The Big 12 already has 4 schools in Texas, adding SMU would've been a bad move. Adding Houston didn't do anything to help the Big 12 in Texas. BYU and Utah are in the same state doesn't make sense since Utah has only 38% of the state of Virginia's population. I like the schools in the Big 12 but they're relegated to tier 2 like the ACC moneywise. At least the ACC still has FSU, Clemson and UNC for now. The Big 12 already lost all their national football brands. Best of luck to your conference. I hope they beat all the Power 2 teams.

Logic won't work with the Big12 fanatics. Desperate to be #3.

I'm nit the one pretending the b12 had any interest in Calford.
in order to justify their weak additions. Lol Insecurity indeed.
neworleanshoo neworleanshoo
Oh, so now it's that the Big12 had no interest? Gotcha.

Piss off, kid.

Yep, kind of like you all with BYU, Houston and UCF…
the B12 and ACC are 2 sides of the same coin, and the P2 conferences are ready to pick apart both when the chance arises.

I agree that the b12 and acc have more in common than not
....but BYU, UCF, Cincinnati, Houston, Utah, Arizona, Arizona State, and Colorado >>>>>>>>> SMU, California, and Stanford.
BROman Hokie BROman Hokie
Still, the ACC didn’t lose its top brands

Arizona is the only program that moves the needle. But yes, good for you.

Repeatedly saying it does not make it so. SMU is the only "reject"
As has been detailed repeatedly, Cal and Stanford wanted no part of the Big 12. It's simply inaccurate to suggest otherwise.

Please detail where Cal and Stanford "had no interest"...

Cal and Stanford never applied to B12 to be rejected - and not sure b12
Would want them - just not a cultural fit - that also would have been 6 p12 schools - too much voting power for the legacy b12 - plus they need eastern schools to help balance it out - SMU would have accepted but they already have 4 Texas schools - so they block

Says who?
SMU lobbed the 9 years, zero dollar offer at the B12 long before the ACC. This was reported today. REJECTED.

Not accurate.......
they offerred seven, not nine, to both PAC 12 and Big 12 and the reason the Big 12 rejected was they already had a full complement in Texas.
H
Hokie12thman
Correct - SMU was rejected by Big 12 - like I said -already have 4 in TX
So they were blocked
neworleanshoo neworleanshoo
Of course, because SMU is obvious overlap with TCU.

xx97 OP
So was Utah with BYU. Dogs are dogs.
neworleanshoo neworleanshoo
Yes but you're the one who took them. Also, don't forget Baylor.
I think taking Utah with BYU already in the fold was dumb and definitely market overlap, but it was more about throwing Colorado, BYU, and more importantly Arizona a bone. Either way, the Big12 already HAD overlapping markets with Baylor only and hour from TCU (and Texas Tech not far from them). So SMU made zero sense. The ACC was obviously interested in getting in to Texas. ** Edited by neworleanshoo at 9/1/2023, 6:49:03 PM ** Edited by neworleanshoo at 9/1/2023, 6:49:39 PM

The main reason SMU madezero sense is because
they were a crappy addition for a power conference.
neworleanshoo neworleanshoo
That's yet to be seen, but we got them for FREE and got into Texas.
X
xx97 OP
SMU begged the b12 for free membership long ago. They're crap.
neworleanshoo neworleanshoo
Again, the Big12 already had stupid overlap, that's why they weren't added.
You seem to forget that less than a year ago, you were basically scrapping for outright survival. I'm thrilled the Big 12 HAD survived - getting the Pac 12 defectors was huge and likely saved you, which is great for college football. But for you to suddenly pound your chest like you're superior is downright laughable.

There was rejection, but not by the B12.
X
xx97 OP
B12 already rejected a full on PAC merger. They didn't want the 4 rejects.
And SMU *****d themselves out and got slapped down by the B12 time and time again.
S
Stech
Right on SMU, wrong on Stanford and Cal, but stop the rivalry stuff, this
isn't a Rivalry Board and if you keep it up, you won't last here long.
X
xx97 OP
Nothing personal. Just having fun with realignment.
Just expressing the way I've seen it. The B12 did reject a full Pac merger. This has been documented.
S
Stech
Full yes, but they knew Stanford and Cal would not come, Oregon State and
Washington State they rejected, but I wish they would take them. I they are a great cultural fit for the B12 and two new states. I like the B12 and I look forward to watching their games. Kind or blue collar schools like most land grants, usually better at math than english grammar rules though. :-) I get the fun by the way, but this board is a great board because we don't do the rivalry stuff here, we argue fuss and fight about issues, but we keep the rivalry stuff out. Maybe Will needs a rivalry board, he thinks out of the box and likes to grow, but it would probably a nightmare to monitor...so I take that back. :-)
X
xx97 OP
I've seen nothing to suggest the b12 had any interest in the Pac 4.
The proposal to merge was made and was shot down by the b12. The b12 always said its focus was the 4C.....and they achieved that. The day after adding them Big 12 officials were quoted as saying, "we're done". ** Edited by xx97 at 9/1/2023, 6:16:02 PM

Sure they were done, because Stanford and Cal had no interest.
