Hokie grad named 1st Team All SEC, Strack named Defensive POY
The lede for this story makes me sad: "A pair of Virginia Tech transfers came into the Southeastern Conference and dominated right away for Kentucky women’s basketball."
"On Tuesday, the SEC announced 2024-25 regular season accolades. Fifth-year point guard Georgia Amoore was one of nine players named First Team SEC while sophomore center Clara Strack was one of nine players tabbed Second Team SEC. She also won the league’s Defensive Player of the Year award and was one of six players to make the All-Defensive Team. Amoore was also named the SEC’s Newcomer of the Year."
Thank goodness what's his name didn't win Coach of the Year. Yes, I admit that I am bitter about him.
But at least Georgia does have a Hokie degree.

Looking forward to the day when NOTHING about KB and his players
shows up on our boards. Just my personal feeling about it.

Unless being curious about two of the highest recruits ever to commit to VT are doing somewhere else.

WNBA material in my view. Very talented. But she seems very happy where she is.

Hokie fans of losing the butt hurt when it was obvious in the Baylor game that Kenny could have not cared less if we lost. He looked pre-occupied. That’s kind of inexcusable.

focus ahead. Rehashing that bad time is not productive. Hopefully when some more months pass and GA moves on, we will too. As for KB, I will always despise him but I am not gonna dwell on it.

against USC and Texas... Unfortunately, she got into foul trouble i believe against LSU?

his alter ego. Had she stayed at Tech, her jersey might have been in the rafters with Liz’s. Instead it will hang in Brook’s basement. Her choice. Se la vie, let it go.

And she would have a great career. I casually followed Blue and Silva because when they were VT commits I was hoping they might be elite. They still have a chance. Silva had a decent year. I never noticed much done by Blue. Both had goose eggs vs South Carolina.

Whether that is "decent" or basic for a freshman, she did get decent minutes and 6 pts against Texas but nothing really against USC> I just use those as a measuring stick to see if playing time decreased against good teams. She did play alot against LSU probably because of Strack's foul trouble

I think she's a sophomore, so she would have been a key piece of this team for several more years.

My Dad fought beside Aussies in the Philippine campaign in WWII. He told stories of their resolve and courage.
Unverified, but read that Aussies who were killed in combat in Vietnam were buried where they fell. That story may be extrapolated from my Dad's account.
The point is, GA has that tough minded resolve. VT could be home away from home, but the bridge may have been burned. And she's probably over it and moving on. We know CKB left no bread crumbs which I'd hope the birds would have eaten anyway.

Unless the NCAA says 6 years is good. Would be very cool to see her in Vegas.

National team, her stats were terrible when she played and the competition wasn't even that good. I see her getting into coaching, probably Daddy Brooks will give her a GA position.

It's VERY difficult.
She's an outstanding player...and yes, she's good enough for the WNBA.

She can play many years pro ball. At least overseas. Aussie land for sure. WNBA? You know she could if with right team. I do think her being small would take toll.

all aspects of the game and Georgia is just plain fun to watch. Hated to see them leave VT but I don't blame them. They especially Georgia (and Liz) provided some of the best sports moments in VT history. And they did it with style and grace; and exuded likeability in the process. Wish them both well. And Kenny is like Buzz and many other successful coaches, it often becomes more about them and less about any loyalty to any school or fanbase. I like Coach Duffy and think she has done a remarkable job with this group. Their improvement as individuals as well as a team has been enormous.

I'm glad they ND coach seems to be well- entrenched. McGraw holds Duffy in very high esteem and would endorse her in a minute. Moot point, thank goodness, as Ivey isn't going anywhere.

She would fit very nicely into MD's program as a 4 or 5. Stranger things have happened. That would be a bit of a coup. Dose not hurt to try, since we apparently have more NIL money this year.

"Team recruited on VT's dime, does well in the big, bad SEC"
Even Buzz didn't take current players with him, but that ethic has all changed now.
Grrrr.

Buzz did recruit on VT's dime, among other things but, Buzz just offered Radford a place to land on a way out of a sticky situation in Montgomery County.

Jumped ship on Liz's and Georgia's credentials before he retreated back into mid-conference form. He would NOT have accomplished what Coach Duffy has done with this roster. IMO(🤔)

I hold no disdain for them. CKB is a different story.

FWIW GA revealed her true feelings about Hokie Nation on Liz's jersey
retirement day. This was Liz's day - not hers. She chose to wear a UK sweatshirt when she could have simply worn a Nike hoodie with no college logo. She could harbor ill will to Hokie Nation all she wanted but she chose to do that on Liz's day. To use Liz's day to thumb her nose at Hokie Nation and proclaim loudly, "Sorry, Bestie. I'm using your day to let them know what I think."
GA may have a VT degree but as she said in many interviews, school wasn't why she was there. Translation, my degree just means I was there for 4 years playing basketball.
(In response to this post by GCHokieof91)

In About a Month, GA will be an NON issue, Season will be over, and its unlikely she will be in the WNBA.....too short and poor D skills.
She can hop on back to the Aussie bush and coach somewhere, unless she lands on the UK staff coaching for her Daddy.

She has one year. Hope it pays off for her. VT indeed survived. We just have to play that game ourselves. Go get them from others and hope to keep what we got. Again!

She’s busy & took time to record a video in what she was wearing at the time
Maybe she’s petty maybe she’s not & will appreciate Hokie nation down the line
Unfortunately too many lashed out at her when she left so it’s a 2 way street

I think I read she trashed her VT gear. Less to carry around in the transition. Her perspective is fairly unique and pretty pragmatic, again IMHO.

& read into something like “wearing UK gear was thumbing her nose at Hokies”
Nope. Liz didn’t wear orange or maroon to her own ceremony…should we care? Nope…not the way she was all in pumping up the team that day

IMHO she is sulking over no longer being a queen. Geez it had to stop some time. Liz is mature enough to see that. Congrats GA on being you. A good wbb with what seems a very forgetful mind. It is Mackie time in the burg. Hope she is here for more than just basketball. Something tells me deep down GA is hurt by the fan's reactions. Being from so far away she probably never knew what Hokies truly are. That being loyal to a fault. Being all O and M.
What Hokies have to realize this business is all crazy now. While we also sulk a bit. We need to realize if not for Soule portal transfer to VT. No final 4. We loved that. GA is gone. She represents the U of K. So be it. The legacy she had as building something special in burg' indeed tarnished. We had to start over in some ways.
For me it just showed the love for money over heart and soul is now the craze. Thank goodness we got 5 years of Liz.

Recruited her, created the mini me, and will probably get her into coaching. She was safe and grew under his tutelage. I'd have been surprised if she hadn't gone to UK once he jumped ship.
