Rumor that SEC has turned down FSU and Clemson

Clemson and FSU are like the unfaithful spouse who were left the marriage to marry the person they were having an affair with, only to find that they were just being used and their affair partner had no interest in them.

FSU investing/deciding to sue in 2023 to leave the ACC without having a known place to go was really dumb decision making by their BOT. Those business liaisons who oversee multiple billions of dollars lack sound judgement.
I am being sarcastic.

why would you cram in to make space and pick up the tab for a couple of sixes?

Never seen that one before. They are quoting Greg Swaim who says all the expansion in the near future is the Big-12 taking ACC schools. This article speculates based on Swam's opinions that FSU & Clemson are surely going to be forced into the Big-12.
Brett McMurphy is also quoted on a statement he made over a year ago when he said the SEC would be interested in UNC & UVA. I think McMurphy was the lone somewhat reliable source that ever said that. McMurphy also stated at that time that the SEC would have no interest in FSU or Clemson.
That old quote from McMurphy and Greg Swaim is what this article is based on. Swaim is a Big 12 fan from Stillwater, Oklahoma. I think very unreliable.

Be great for nc st and vt both 12-0 in the championship; then miami and smu right Behind and fsu and clemson round 9-3. Also acc teams need to win their ooc games.
While sec eats themselves up;, same with big 10.
Boy what that narrative will be

Someone here may have said that they never had an SEC invite
In fact, that was the whole point behind the lawfare from FSU and then Clemson as I never believed that they had an SEC invite but wanted to go B1G. Of course the Big 12 would love those 2 schools as that would doom ACC football and cause a new feeding frenzy. The problem is that the $$$ do not make that move worth the challenge as it would be lateral, or even a step back financially.

Things could change, but I've seen reports that 6 Big Ten members will only support AAU additions to the B1G. That's enough to keep non-AAU out.

While they were AAU members technically when they entered the Big10, they were very shortly kicked out of the AAU. The AAU members all had to have known about that being in process during the invite process for Nebraska.
Are the AAU statements really just hand waving?

Look, 20 team leagues are absolutely getting four 5-team divisions. Ohio State, Michigan and Michigan State are gonna be in a division separate from Penn State.
Penn State + Maryland + Rutgers is basically 1 + 0 + 0. UNC? UVA? Added to Maryland and Rutgers? That is awful. And I can’t see Disney or Fox being on board with that.
Miami would be a must in the “AAU or nothing” world. But I don’t know what the B1G would do next. UNC won’t go without UVA if you believe the national media (I think Miami + UNC would be the floor the B1G would aim for, myself). Miami + GT? Major media market is checked, but GT is just another Rutgers at this stage in the game.
Miami + FSU works on a ton of levels if I’m the Big Ten. FSU may not be AAU, but screw that.

The B1G has about 6 members adamant about AAU. That's a problem foe Clemson and FSU with B1G.
The B1G doesn'T need football powers. It needs markets for its network.

after all if they don't need football powers----. I still believe in regionalism, not as much in the P2 but it is still there.

Johns Hopkins lacrosse is the only thing in the B1G. Same with Notre Dame with Ice Hockey.

Right now Johns Hopkins has a pretty sweet gig since all of its sports, except for men's lacrosse, compete at the DIII level. Given all the changes that are taking place within the NCAA right now, I can't think of a great reason why a DII or DIII school would want to move up to the DI level right now. Particularly when you consider the additional cost that the move would create for football and basketball which according to the DI bylaws are required to be played at the DI level if a school wants to be classified as a DI school. If a school is considering a move to DI, then it may be best to wait until the dust settles before making that decision.

team, then Johns Hopkins has everything else. Just like the SEC or at least a lot of podcast posters think so, can make UVA win Virginia and UNC win NC, USCe win SC, and even FSU win Florida.

don't really bring anything to the SEC table that they don't already have. SEC already has plenty of good football inventory to fill all of its media slots. What it needs is new viewers and neither of those two schools brings new viewership.

FSU is there now and whereas in anything other than the SEC, that base may shrink, it is still very large,

You think ESPN wants those highly rated TV Games totally lost to FOX & CBS in the B1G? This is all about money and that would be a stupid financial decision to let them go B1G.
The SEC and B1G will fight it out in North Carolina & Virginia. However the deep south is SEC pickings.

until they are dead
The Cock's argument to the SEC would be this.
1. Let Clemson in and they dilute us.
2. Leave them out, they die, and our tv share in SC goes up
Something like that......

The Aggies were recruiting at a historical high level within Texas. Texas recruiting can just about support a whole major conference in 3 Star & 4 Star talent. The Aggies had their pick of all that Texas talent as never before being the lone SEC school. Texas Longhorns had sucked over a decade as a Big 12 member. Then Texas announced SEC and becomes a football powerhouse again even before the SEC move can become finalized.
Your two points have been already played out and the Longhorns still got the SEC invite. One reason. The value of Texas versus SEC schools on a TV screen. That same formula will be the deciding factor on FSU & Clemson entering the SEC. Not what the Aggies, Gamecocks & Gators want.

with new PE funds?? which would make the current members demand double too...so PE would cover that too? I like a forward-thinking commish, but that sounds a little snake oily, especially as Big12 distributions are below acc currently...
PE's require ROI and would demand ownership rights...a big piece of the brands and portion of media

Could receive value in the playoff look in, and the next media deal.
Gotta look big picture

Doubt Florida/SC are for the additions either.
The SEC just added Texass and Oklahoma. It’s not surprising they would stand pat on additional schools at this point.
