ACC must be take action if ND is threatening the conference

Had UVA beaten Duke, it would have affected JMU, not Notre Dame. It was always between Notre Dame and Alabama. And Notre Dame is second fiddle to Alabama.

The ACC is ND’s side chick, but it’s the best deal the ACC can strike.
If the ACC loses ND, the conference is SCREWED. The ACC championship game drew fewer fans than some high school games. The conference is in no position to threaten anyone. Even the Big 12 had a compelling game in front of a huge crowd.

N Dame knows ACC weak
But N Dame has zero options with the 24 sports
Use it ACC

is that the motivations and leverages each possessed at the start of the deal have changed fairly significantly and the broker(ESPN) has its own issues and concerns. The partnership, if you can call it that, still has benefits to both sides. However, one or both of them could easily walk away and chart a new path. It is funny and ironic that ESPN might very well be the one with the greatest risk exposure in a fracture of the ACC/ND relationship.

ACC needs clariity on their position
1. they are not members of the ACC for football. clear
2. they are members of the ACC bowl package, and obligated to accept the affected bowl package
3. they are members for all other supports until 2036.
Where is the "poison the relationship""
also ACC bowl rights are affected by their lack of participation, they should be fined like Iowa State and Kansas State for Big 12.
Are they filing for leaving the conference, please let the ACC know so ACC members can carve up the pay back to the contract to 2036.
President and AD of ND, need to explain it to the other 17 Presidents and AD for the other members.

it isn’t Miami that displaced ND, the committee picked JMU to go in over them. Now Tulane got the automatic bid being the highest ranked Group of 5, so that moved 11 and 12 down a spot automatically. That would have put ND in the 11th or 12th spot. Question is why did they put JMU in over ND?

member. ACC will protect its own. ND chose not to join ACC football so they can keep all the revenue. And greedy for sharing ACC revenue from all other sports so they are filthy rich. Maybe ND wouldn't have been in this mess if they beat Miami at beginning of season? Or don't schedule Miami and Texas a&m, back to back games at beginning of season. ND created its own mess, not ACC, not Miami, no one else, and should hold themselves accountable instead of crying victim. However, the Committee was wrong selecting Bama over ND, that's the story.

based on the pre agreed upon rules. The issue is Bama getting blow out in the SEC championship game and still getting in. If that game is close, maybe this isn't an argument. But it being the lopsided margin it was, makes it a different conversation.
All that said, I'm ok with Notre Dame not getting in as they have gotten in other years when they didn't really deserve it.

Not necessarily any particular conferences, just the 5 highest ranked conference champions. Just happened to be this year that the Sunbelt champion (JMU) was ranked higher than the ACC champion (Duke)
(In response to this post by techer1983)

It is likely 2 G conference champions would have received automatic bids this year because UVA didn't take care of business in the CCG.

go to ACC schools, whereas ND's money goes ONLY to ND. Let them leave the ACC and see how hard it is to build a truly INDEPENDENT schedule in ALL SPORTS!!! I'd love to see their MBB and WBB SOS if left to pick 30 games with teams as an Independent. FAFO

margin and ND contribute 0 to FB rev and minimal MBB rev. compared to Duke, UNC, Wake and NCSU.

But I would argue that ND does contribute to FB revenues to the individual schools that host games against them, as well as helping the TV contract knowing there are ~3 Home ACC vs ND games a year in the contract.

I just asked a how big of a value they are without the football aspect. You mentioned success in baseball, women's hoops, and lacrosse. I'm sure there are many more but they don't bring in money.

It was the outward, continuous and ad nauseum promoting of Miami over ND, pitting two conference members against each other, instead of promoting both of them. The ACC Network ran the Miami-ND game THIRTEEN times in the past week. How many times did it air the FSU-Alabama game during that time?

The ACC lobbying continuously for Miami over ND was egregious. But you know, they could have lobbied for Miami over Alabama, and they didn't. That's what bugs me. Miami and ND are both clearly playoff caliber teams. Alabama is clearly not. Why didn't the ACC help a partner and stick it to the SEC? They could have played that FSU game on loop at any time. Why ND?
And don't get me started in JMU...

their case. They played and beat Notre Dame. There isn’t an argument against that. They can claim they deserved over Bama, but that is nothing but subjective.
They had no reason to push for ND over Bama.

obvious to you....the ACC knows who pays its bills AND it isn't Notre Dame. The ACC isn't going to bite the hand that feeds its (aka ESPN) because it likes collecting those checks too much. Particularly since ESPN also feeds Alabama's mouth too. You would do the same thing if you were in the ACC's shoes unless you like being unemployed.
You have nothing to complain about when it comes to JMU. Particularly since Notre Dame, who is 1 of 11 co-owners of the CFP Administration, LLC, which manages the administration operations of the College Football Playoffs. Pay VERY CLOSE ATTENTION to the fact that Rev. Robert Dowd is a member of the CFP Board of Managers and Pete Bevacqua is a member CFP Management Committee. They decided that top 5 conference champions ranked in the final poll would receive an automatic bid to the FBS Playoffs. Since Duke beat UVA in the ACC Championship Game, that meant 2 G-conference champions would receive automatic bids this because all the G-Conference champions (i.e. AAC, C-USA, MAC, MWC, and Sun Belt) should have been ranked ahead an 8-5 ACC Champion (aka Duke). It shouldn't be a foreign concept to you because it has always been that way in some form. Regardless whether it was the 4 Ps and 1 G format or top 5 ranked conference champions format, Notre Dame has always been competing for 1 of 7 at-large bids.
5 Automatic Bids
Indiana
Georgia
Texas Tech
Tulane
JMU
IF UVA had beaten Duke, then it still would have been 5 Automatic Bids
Indiana
Georgia
Texas Tech
UVA
Tulane (based on the final FBS Playoff Poll)

When you have most everything equal (SOS, record, etc) then it is so easy to argue that when you played Head to Head the winner should have the clear advantage. Comparing to Alabama once again is subjective as they never played one another and truthfully no one is getting in over a SEC team when all appears to be equal as they carry the money and power with ESPN and voters alike. I agree Alabama should have been left out losing this late in the season, but they wanted to show that playing in a championship game and losing won't punish you and playing head to head then the winner has the advantage. THAT is why ND had to fall on the sword - this a long term play for future voting and anyone that doesn't have a fight in those 3 teams can see WHY the committee chose the 2 out of the 3 they did.

content is broadcasted on its channel? A safer assumption is that ESPN made the decision. Can you guess what other network channel ESPN owns? Here's a hint: Alabama is a member of this conference. Now once you connect the dots, then it should become obvious that Alabama is the "least deserving" team among 3. Likewise, it should become obvious to you that ESPN is vested in 2 of the 3 teams. If ESPN had Notre Dame's NBC football contract, then I suspect ESPN would have handled the situation different because it would have been vested in all 3 schools. Heck it may have even been a ploy by ESPN to get Notre Dame consider moving its next football contract from NBC to ESPN since it appears ESPN will have the rights to the FBS Playoffs for the foreseeable future. Basically if Notre Dame doesn't want to get screwed again in the future, then it should align itself with ESPN because ESPN will take care of its own.

playoff check in Football, whereas da U needs to share it with conference members. That's y our commissioner should fight for an ACC team rather than ND! I agree bama should have been odd man out, but if not, better UM than ND.

...for over a decade, and it's worked out well for them. Suddenly their football independence has become inconvenient, and they're upset that the ACC didn't want to acquiesce to their self-entitlement. I thought it was incredibly weak when John Swofford publicly said years ago that the ACC would not entertain any partial members, and then walked back that statement and allowed Notre Dame to join the conference in all sports but football shortly thereafter. That was a big mistake, in my opinion.

Cans but they can’t and they didn’t
1) they lost to Miami
2) they’re NOT sharing CFP revenue with ACC so they’re NOT a member for football

Key Terms of the Agreement:
Football Scheduling:
Notre Dame is required to play an average of five games per season against ACC opponents. These games count as non-conference matchups for the ACC teams, but fulfill Notre Dame's scheduling obligation.
Full Conference Membership (Non-Football): All Notre Dame sports, with the exception of men's ice hockey (which competes in the Big Ten), are full members of the ACC and compete for conference championships.
Revenue: Notre Dame retains all revenue from its independent football media deal (primarily with NBC). They receive a partial share of the ACC's media revenue, reportedly around 20%, tied to their non-football membership.
Bowl Tie-Ins: If the Notre Dame football team does not qualify for the College Football Playoff (CFP), it is eligible for one of the ACC's bowl game slots.
CFP Revenue: When Notre Dame makes the College Football Playoff, they keep all of their CFP revenue share, not distributing any to the ACC.
Opt-In Clause: The agreement reportedly includes a clause stating that if Notre Dame ever decides to forgo its football independence and join a conference, it must become a full football member of the ACC.

Let's have a bit of a hypothetical conversation. Say for example, you have a business partner for a lot of different business, but not for, let's say, your restaurant chain. He has his own restaurant, that only he wants to benefit from. One year, your restaurant chain and his restaurant are up for a prestigious award in your city. Since he is only your partner in respect to other industries, but not your restaurant chain, you have no reason to advocate for him over you.
While advocating for your restaurant chain may have inadvertently put his restaurant down a notch, he never wanted to be in that business with you in the first place, so is it really his fault that you advocated for yourself?

Supposedly on the conference realignment a Notre Dame poster claims the ACC did some shady stuff behind closed doors that would qualify as a breach of contract. I suspect either Notre Dame is allowing their emotions to get the better of them (not sure if that is the French or Irish side because both can be feisty) or they have been looking to leave the ACC for some time now and they see this as possibly a way to do it.
