It will continue to drop, as the big teams will pick up elite recruits
this fall and winter and move up the rankings. Big teams with big $$ are nowhere near finished yet. VT has already picked up 25 commits. Many of the big $$ teams still have smaller number of commits, Bama, Georgia, LSU, Texas, etc, they always end with a loud bang every year. VT will probably finish in the top 25 by signing day Feb 5, 2027. There will be a number of last minute commits and decommits/flips the next 6-8 months. There's a long way to go, but Franklin has done a fantastic job for 2026 and 2027, the transfer portal, and exceeded fans expectations. Love his personality, fire, and drive. We are in good hands.

Alex's parents split at young age. Mother later married his stepfather,
Jake Hinkle, who introduced him to soccer during his childhood in Florida. Alex faced heavy pressure to play football, but really didn't like football. He "secretly" loved soccer. Stepfather encouraged him to follow his dream playing soccer and was his coach before he turned pro. His 2 younger brothers also play soccer.

VT had zero 5-star and zero 4-star recruits during Vick's 2 years.
Vick was considered 3-star recruit. Beamer and coaching staff did superior coaching job elevating players to play like champions and took them to NC game.
Lower-rated recruits frequently become the cornerstones of championship teams. Indiana took a 2-star QB and low-rated recruits from JMU to win the NC. Beamer and Indiana coach proved their models work.

Hello Indiana, national champions. It takes good coaching staff and good QB
Mendoza was 2-star recruit and #140 QB out of HS. Only received 2 FBS offers, Cal and FIU.

Nice to see our softball players behind the sunglasses, hats,
batting helmets, uniforms, hair down. Nice to see normal every day appearance of athletes we rarely get to see out of uniform. Sometimes an extreme transformation. Bre looks totally different out of uniform. She is a beautiful young lady.

My comment LSU is more talented vs VT. SEC is stronger, tougher conference
vs ACC. LSU strength of schedule/RPI is higher than VT and that's big reason why Ncaa picked LSU to host. SEC has 7 teams ranked in top 10 vs ACC has 1 team. LSU had to play top 10 teams every week. If VT had to play those same top 10 teams every week, we wouldn't have 46-10 record today.

LSU is the more talented team, they are loaded with 5-star players at
almost every position. Pitching staff is top-notched. They had #2, #3, #4, #5 recruiting rankings every year since 2022. But our ladies played their hearts out and never gave up. Excellent season and we had a chance to host.

Good guess it's their starting ace LHP Jayden Heavener.
Former #1 recruit couple years ago. 2.75 ERA. Big challenge for our batters.

That's funny right there. VT AD doesn't know the meaning of season tickets
with reserved seating for softball.

I think that's Deangelo. He loves LSU softball and has season tickets.
His sister played LSU softball, was a star infielder 2016-2019. He considers all the softball players his sisters. He also leads cheers at their football games and baseball games. He is well known at LSU. The students love him.

So much for Louisiana's heat and humidity. Our pitchers did fantastic job.
No errors. No passed balls. Team was focused.

Yes, embarrassing for Techsideline. Isn't Will the owner and IT Manager?
Live stats is our go-to for some of us who can't watch the game on tv. NCAA Tournament is the most important time of the year. Hope it's fixed before the next game.

Bases loaded. 1 out. Bottom of 3rd. Just need fly ball outfield to score.
Or base hit will be even better.

I've been to Louisiana 12X and have several family members and friends
in Louisiana. No matter where you are, it's hot and humid in the summer. You can put a piece of paper on the wall and it will stick on its own.

Only southern part and coastal areas are swamp. Top 2/3 is higher elevation
dry with rolling hills and pine forest areas. Bottom 1/3 is lower elevation and Baton Rouge does has some swamp areas.

Good pitching both teams. One error, one play passed ball, decided the game
Our bats were not active today, as they were all year.

VT is limited on $$ and resources. We're not top 30 Nils. Our AD is lagging
behind. Coach D is doing the best she can with the resources she is given.

VT Nil ranked #34 nationally. UVA Nil ranked #14. Notre Dame #15.
We won't get top recruits/transfers until VT can go from passive observer to active facilitator to maximize an athlete's market value. It's not Coach D's fault, she is doing her best with what VT is giving her.

Received Bachelors Degree in Biomedical Engineering. Originally from NJ.
A graduate student pursuing Masters. Experts were totally wrong. Predicted she will pick Ucla, Uconn or MD. Maybe VT has good chance, she would probably be a starter vs sitting on the bench at ND.

Let me rephrase, when coaches are asked they prefer the sweet spot 11-12.
Most teams have 5 starters, play 3-4 from the bench. The rest play during blowouts/garbage time. Coaches say they don't like having14-15 because there will be unhappy players buried deep in the bench. They won't be able to fully develop and end up transferring. Smaller numbers are more efficient than larger numbers. Able to manage team chemistry. Limited athletic budgets. NIL and revunue sharing spread too thin. Those are some of the reasons given by coaches so they try to stay in that sweet spot 11-12.

Probably 1, maybe 2. Most teams avg 11 players on team.
5 starters and 6 from the bench. Too many players and some will be dissatisfied with playing time.

Yes, thanks for clarifying, that is what I meant finish the semester.
Athletic scholarships are on annual basis, not guaranteed for 4 years. If a player goes through the transfer portal, they intend to leave the school. Most of the time, the school will not take them back. But there are always exceptions to the rule if a school takes player back but it's rare. Problem is most everything, including NILs, are null and void once a player enters the portal.

40%-50% don't find a new program offering an athletic scholarship.
They lose their scholarship and spot on the current roster. School no longer honors the scholarship. Entering the portal usually is the end of their playing career at the current school. Entering the portal is often viewed as "quitting" the team. They have to pay their own tuition to finish their degree or drop out entirely if they cannot afford it without scholarship.

Will be difficult win NC, have to beat the best teams every year--TX, OK,
Bama, FL, TN, UCLA, etc. We don't have the top superstar players like they do, don't have top 5 recruiting class every year. If we can get #1 pitcher like TX Tech, or an Angela Tincher, we have a chance. If we get to college world series, that would be a major success.

Kim Mulkey left powerhouse 3X NC Baylor for losing LSU & started over.
They committed $$ for LSU WBB before she took job and promptly won NC in her 2nd year. Would not be surprised if UVA gets her, they will have the big $$ to get it done. She can get them to NC game quickly.

Per NCAA: While head coaches hold end of season meetings to discuss
player's future and role, the official NCAA exit interview for departing athletes is typically administered by an athletic department representative who is not a coach. This ensures athletes can be honest about their experience without fear of retribution.
Women's Basketball Board
3 mo ago
Yes, NCAA mandates exit interviews (Code 6.3) of players leaving programs.
Whether the transfer players are 100% honest is another story. Exit interviews are confidential, conducted by the AD, and do not include the head coach present. They don't make this feedback public to fans since it's confidential, but the AD will share some of the results with the head coach. It is not always about $$, there are so many other reasons why they leave. If the reason is sensitive, like inappropriate behavior, bullying, toxic culture, etc, the AD shares with the Administrators/Title IX (similar to UVA's Coach Mox).

6'3" F Skylar Forbes played her freshman year for Coach D at Marquette.

People at Iowa State are saying that, looking for more $$. She is good
on scoring offense, but poor on defense. It depends what Coach D is looking for, offense only but overlooks/allows her poor defense.

Crooks will command high payout, high NIL. VT doesn't have that kind $$.
VT has not committed to large NIL payouts. She is #1 player in transfer portal. She will want highest exposure, biggest NILs. The big names will be contacting her, the usual suspects.

KB went to Ncaa Tourney both years. 2nd round and sweet 16. Record 48-19.
That is a very successful job. He turned the program around. But he did it with former VT players. The key to his success is Strack. Their previous coach had losing records.

KB picked up 3 top 20 HS recruits for 2026 class. Nationally ranked in
top 10. He got 2 top recruits for 2025 class. So far he has done a very good job recruiting HS level. You need good mix HS recruiting and use the portal to plug in the holes. You have to give him credit where credit is due.
