Talia Goodman from On3 reported
that Tennessee forward Alyssa Latham has visited Ole Miss and Virginia Tech. She's a graduate transfer so she's free to take visits already before the portal opens. (Could be what Hoover was tweeting about earlier.)
She's 6-foot-2. From Glenwood, Ill. Started her career at Syracuse, has one year of eligibility remaining.
Her basic numbers aren't anything earthshattering — 4.7 ppg, 3.4 rpg last year — but she was effective as a freshman at Syracuse in 2023-24, averaging 8.6 ppg and 7.0 rpg. Shot 53.9% this year (48-for-89). Had a box plus-minus of 6.4 this year and 5.9 last year. Freelon at 7.5 this year, for comparison. Isn't necessarily the outstanding rebounder Freelon was this year in terms of O/DReb%, but has proven to be solid. Appears to be a good defender, too.
An early player to keep an eye on.

If CMD is able to land her, how do you see her fitting into next years team??

Freelon typically had to face the basket and maybe make a move.

similar to Freelon, I think. She'd probably slot into the starting spot at the five. And I suspect Duffy is familiar with her given she's a Midwest kid (Illinois).

What Caldwell said about Latham in February:
“She’s one of the most athletic people on the floor,” Kim Caldwell said. “And she can find buckets that other people can’t. She can go get offensive rebounds. She can get steals. She’s a really good and smart slasher cutting. So, she just needs to continue to do what she’s doing.”
