and keep going

And the Cavinder twins are returning to Miami after taking a year off
What? So can anyone with eligibility just come back to college now since getting paid isn't an obstacle?

Money is probably better while playing
I never understand how social media influencers(i.e cute girls) can make so much money. There is an infinite amount of girls that are equal to or better looking. ** Edited by crazylane at 4/18/2024, 7:53:05 PM

Correct, among hawt chicks on the web, they are very average at best
interest in them is driven by the fact that they are D1 athletes. Take that away, they're just average hawt chicks in skimpy outfits in a massive sea of the same.
The_Phew The_Phew
The social media audience for 'hawt influencers' is predominantly female.
Dudes can get nekkid pictures of beautiful women in milliseconds, so why would they waste time pervin' through 'influencers' on Instagram trying to find bikini pics? Other young women want to follow more successful+attractive young women on social media so they can feel terrible about themselves, which they can only recover from by posting cute duckface selfies begging for less-attractive young women to respond to with fire emojis, and the cycle continues until some 0/10s feel terrible about seeing 1/10s looking barely OK (thanks to filters) and then go eat some cake.

I assume as long as they weren’t paid pro athletes, they could always…
come back if they still have eligibility. I forget what they went to do, but I would guess it was considered entertainment, not pro sports.
C
carhokies
Yes paid but not pro basketball, it was wrestling. Since not in same sport,
they're allowed to come back. Key is they still have eligibility, 5th year covid.
Vienna_Hokie Vienna_Hokie
and that is not classified as a sport anyway, it's entertainment
which is why they can be roided up and not face drug testing in states that require it, nor can you bet on it.

This is so messed up, it isn't funny any more. Twins can't seem to stay
away from each other or do anything independently. Feel bad for TCU. Hope they don't lose HVL.
`lag `lag
probably realizing their gig is up, so might as well work it one more time

If you went pro early, could you come back?
If you still had eligibility? When will 4 years of college eligibility actually be challenged? Could it be 5 or 6 or unlimited?
C
carhokies
Yes they can, as long as they still have eligibility. It's their 5th year
covid. Here's the kicker...Haley Cavinder signed NLI with TCU last November 2023. So TCU will have to sign full release of her NLI. Transfer portal is getting crazy.
HtownHokie HtownHokie
🤣🤣 hope TCU charges them/her a boatload of money for a release. hey, it's
all business now "ladies"! no more amateur considerations or pity for the poor scholarship girls. you got money: TCU will take it and use it for their NIL!
J
Jbohokie63
Does being pro even matter anymore since these kids are getting paid now?
hokie4ever hokie4ever
Yes it does. They make less money in the pro leagues

Those who don't make the NBA get depressed when they are only...
making half in Europe than what they made on their mediocre college team. "My basketball career earnings peaked during my senior year at State U." ;)

Spit my drink out. Probably a lot of truth there

I know Coach Cullop (TOL now MIA). Great coach, happy 4 her

I love VT!
I watched her press conference and was really impressed by her.

I thought Miami spent all its NIL on Lynn Kidd. Where do they keep coming
up with all this cash?

A bunch of that comes through South Florida...lol
H

Yeah,I thought they discovered LifeWallet was a big scam and John Ruiz was
cooking the books. So where are they getting all this NIL money? Rumor is that Kidd got 500K to ride the bench behind Omier. Nigel Pack was getting 400K but now that he sees Kidd getting 500K of course he will ask for more.
H
hokieben
I've heard rumors that Kidd got 650K

gig 'em! before South Beach ocean drys up. huh?... oh it's an ocean. polar
caps are melting; tides rising; oceans interconnect - - endless, baby!
BackInTheBurg BackInTheBurg
No. Hanna is playing at Miami. Haley is playing at TCU
hoosnowahokie hoosnowahokie
Oh she just switched apparently.

Yup, with the magical transfer portal...
you can come out of retirement, commit to TCU in the fall and decommit 6 months later and commit to the team you left 13 months ago.
BackInTheBurg BackInTheBurg
Oh wow. Twins and all
H
HokieBrazil
I'm telling you, pretty sure there will be challenges to the 4 year rule
Why wouldn't the Cavinder Twins want to continue playing let's say until they are like 30 when they can continue cashing hundreds of thousand of dollars in college. Heck, they wouldn't make it to the WNBA and if they did, their earnings would drop like a rock.
HtownHokie HtownHokie
now there's a thought! lifetime students becomes lifetime college athletes:
makes cents and dollars! ncaa will give 'em a full pass x 2 to get the ball rolling ... and create another fiasco that prolongs ncaa's greedy existence.

Looks like Scherr from UK also heading to TCU
Maddie Scherr, 5’11, G, Sr. (12.5 ppg, 4.8 rpg, 3.4 apg). Call me spiteful, but I when someone leaves UK it makes me happy.
BackInTheBurg BackInTheBurg
I was a fan when she went into the portal from Louisville and thought that
she’d be a great complement at the 2 guard spot w/Amoore as the PG. Now her dad, that’s another story. Hope she finds success at TCU.
vthokieq vthokieq
HVL and one of the Cavinder twins.
TCU will get some publicity at least.
J

Just broke that both Cavinder twins gonna be at MIA next year.

I think I am seeing just Hanna back to Miami. Haley still with TCU?

I hope they get a shot in the arm after the rough yr they had, and I think
it will be a calm place for HVL to spend her last year. At least I hope so. Wishing the best for all.
`lag `lag
Took her shot, she's toast, get her game back, make some NIL, have fun...
she's not going to the WNBA.
vthokieq vthokieq
They find a big or two they’ll certainly have potential.
