Awesome pick up. Way to go Coach Duffy. Really

wanted her last year. Excited to have you at VT. Being a Hokie is special

I still think the B12 and ACCshould merge or have a very close working

agreement. Draw a line down the Mississippi River. ACC gets WVU, UCF and Cincy. B12 gets SMU, Stanford, and CAL. 33 teams and power to go up against the SEC AND B10. Can create regional rivalries much better to go along with scheduling cross conference marquee games. Travel is much better. Many synergies could be achieved.

I say the heck with the SEC and the B1G. My idea would be for the ACC and

Big12 to merge and create east and west divisions. 16 teams in each. Negotiate WVU, UCF, and Cincy to the east and SMU, Stanford, and Cal to the west division. Olympic sports benefit from much better travel. Football plays 8 games in your division, 2 or 4 games games cross division. Strengthens both current conferences and would preserve the viability of both. ND can join if they want. I would create 4 team pods in each division for scheduling flexibility and preserve natural rivalries. Fight fire with fire. Not sure the SEC AND B1G want any of the teams in this National Conference. BIG 12 has media deals with ESPN and Fox. Thoughts? ** Edited by hokie4ever at 4/18/2025, 12:15:26 PM

The hard thing for me to understand is when we lose players to transfers…

Or portal out, it seems they have more successful careers at their new school. Inquiring minds want to know why this is.

And a poorly led and mis-managed Hokie Club

that supposedly is not Meeting it’s fund raising goals. ** Edited by hokie4ever at 3/18/2025, 9:49:55 PM

Maybe a little off base but here goes. Was told that a football player

receiving NIL of $100,000 or $1,000,000 or somewhere in between is still on scholarship. Why, this makes no sense? If they are so interested they can pay their own tuition, etc. Most are not here to play school in this new era of paid players. No allegiance to the school or academics. So I requested that my HC contributions go explicitly go to Olympic sport students.

Just got home in Greensboro from watching Watauga (Boone, NC)…

Versus Northern Guilford in WBB. Went to see Kate Sears play for Watauga. She was our first commitment for the 2025 class. She is special and tough as nails. Not afraid to battle under the basket, drive to the basket and can stroke it. A left hander also. Look forward to seeing her in O&M. Met her Dad also. Nice and proud Dad. He got a bit choked up when I told him I loved her commitment video.

She was very impressive and engaging. Young women will relate to her.

The WBB program is in great hands. The future is very bright. Exciting times ahead. She likely brings a couple of players from Marquette……I believe. Let go of Brooks. He showed his unclassy side. CMD will win basketball games and Hokie Nation.

Whit should be directing someone to organize a WBB celebration, maybe

Before the spring football game to show recruits, players, coaches and staff how much the WBB team was loved by Hokie Nation. We have a lot to honor and sell. ** Edited by hokie4ever at 3/29/2024, 10:48:26 AM

Was talking with a good friend about this very thing the other. No sure MY

Can adapt to this new world order. Great guy. Great coach, but maybe the game has changed too much.

I would expand the the ACC to 20 teams. Hear me out.

The first 10: ND, Wake, Duke, UCONN, Syracuse, BC, SMU, UC Berkeley, Stanford, Tulane Second 10: VT, UVA, Pitt, UNC, NCSU, Clemson, GT, FSU, Miami, U of L for a few days, then trade them for WVU. Then, this is very unwieldy, so the two 10 team divisions break apart. The second 10 division, VT division negotiates a new TV deal with CBS, or NBC, or Fox. Now back to work.

The ACC must be a great conference because nobody wants us and we do not..

seem to want anyone. What has Phillips done proactive other than move the ACC headquarters to Charlotte. Or Swoford locked us in together for 20+ years.
