Pac-12 commercial during the CFP Final.
Did anyone see the Pac-12 commercial on the CFP Final? I found it quite tone deaf, and a fitting final example of why the modern Pac-12 leadership failed. It would have been awesome if the Pac-12 would have done a bit of a nostalgia piece about its 100+ years of contribution to the sport, or a thanks for the memories/farewell piece, or maybe a spot wishing the Huskies good luck in this our final season. But no. They just ran a canned ad as if nothing has happened. I always found it perplexing the difference between their great football and sports conference heritage, vs. their modern focus of political messaging and their financial mismanagement. Where were the adults in the room? It is still a crying shame. I loved the Pac-12. The Rose Bowl was a much see for me every year from Pasadena. It always seemed like heaven and a great place to start a new year. I was glued to Pac-12 After Dark almost every Saturday night. I loved how each team had a local, natural rivalry. When it was the Pac-10, the round robin play was second to none. It will be a shame to lose a pretty darned good basketball conference as well with two bonafide bluebloods. And now, they will be in separate conferences. Turrible. And don't get me started on the non revs. And I say this with deep regret as a kid who rooted for USC as a kid before I became a Hokie as a young adult. I loved their whole schtick and still do. It just won't be the same in the B1G, the former enemy. ** Edited by Maroon Baboon at 1/10/2024, 2:34:50 AM

"their modern focus of political messaging and their financial mismanagemen
mismanagement" - this has accelerated across countless American institutions over the last few years. Obviously, in the grand scheme of things, sports don't matter. As for the more important stuff - we're all going to be looked back at as just fiddling while Rome burns.

I love the PAC but
Loved the beauty of the campuses, the geographic saneness before expansion , academics etc. Its demise is the last major nail in the death of college athletics as they were previously known. . As to a new commercial- good luck coordinating that and paying for that - amongst the schools
