Strong rumor in swirling around the MD program is that Willard's replacemen
t will be ... Buzz Williams.

He’s keeping the truth close to his sweaty vest.

Brent had a flagpole with the texas state flag when he lived in Blacksburg.
You did say rumor so with him, anything is even slightly possible.

But he probably also secretly had a flag with Brent's picture on it.
Good coach, but in the end, Brent knows that he can only stay in Dodge for so long and he has to move on to keep the Buzz-brand alive. Honestly I understood his personnel approach of focusing on athletic wing talent when he was at VT - and does bring him fairly consistent success - but I'm not sure that's the approach that's ever gonna get him to a final four.

Buzz thinks he is a senator. Moves on about every 6 years.

That's a normal coaching tenure.

But more successful getting things done than politicians.

I thought his dream was always to get back to the state of Texas….
but things change. And who knows with Buzz.

I had to curiously visit A&M board to see fan reactions/feeling about Buzz:
Generally appears most like/OK with him, a good fit....Not many intense feelings either way: i.e. not begging to keep him at all costs -nor- pushing him out the door.....kind of a "whatever" feeling on first few pages

Which may be why he's getting the itch. Maybe aTm just too much about FB.
Whereas UMd being in the B1G still has the financial resources (as well as recruiting access), yet is arguably more passionate about BB than FB. Best of both worlds for Brent.

When u have unlimited resources it’s not worth worrying about
The next opportunity is right around the corner

It would be different if it were football. I think basketball is a way
to spend the winter in Texas.

Which is great...just enough success to keep his job but no deep post-
season runs. Similar to my wish for Brooks at KY.

Even then, he's great at staying ahead of the pitch forks when he still
has good value on these streets. Brent leaving for another school should never be a surprise.

Sounds more like negotiating

when he mention the racist quotes by fans
I thought he had one foot out the door. Pressure was ramping up at Texas AM to get into the sweet 16 or final four. i figured he was going to cut and run very soon

I heard this morning Buzz is the 11th highest paid coach in the land
(just under $5mil/year) Villanova is allegedly ready to make Willard a top 10 highest paid coach and Maryland -allegedly- has offered to match that for Willard. So assuming Maryland has that money, and for Buzz if this is about simply upping his salary..that would be such a Buzz thing to do.

It's not just a Buzz thing to do. It's pretty much what everybody would do

Or just moving on when the current team he is coaching has peaked
The real clue to how true that would be is if A&M has used up all their visits already? ;)
