I wonder if any team has ever won a 3 game series despite a 18-inning
stretch in the middle of the series where they were outscored 21-0?

I guess I don't get why "ring-hunting" seems to have a negative connotation
I know in baseball free agents typically will say they WANT to go somewhere and win a World Series, but they always wind up going to whoever offers the most money, which may or may not be the best chance to win it all. And people tend to look down at them for chasing the bucks.
But in basketball it seems like players are looked down at not for chasing the most bucks but for wanting to win????? I'm not an NBA fan but it sure seems bass ackwards to me.

And they showed the whole damn thing on TV
They aren't supposed to do that. It will just encourage more squirrels to do it for the attention.

MJ Collins now in Cincinnati
Had to get an injunction issued by a court to be allowed to play.
Apparently will be a key player for the Bearcats if he can play.

Urban slang I believe
But there are plenty of places and food trucks and such that use the term in their name so it has become pretty common usage.

I think exhibitions for approved charities can sell tickets and be open
door, and anything else is closed door.
I wonder what charity this one benefits?

EZPass works where EZPass works
The states just take care of billing and accounting for their own people, it is a multi-state program.
I don't think an EZPass would work with some other program, like SunPass or whatever it is called in Florida (if that thing is still around). But I have used my EZPass literally hundreds of times outside of Maryland (in Virginia, Delaware, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, and Massachusetts).

That I have heard of. Heard of is kind of a nebulous term: let's say if you asked me who they were out of the blue with just their name, I could at least say what profession. Like I recognize Tara Vander Veer as a women's college basketball "name" but I couldn't tell you exactly who she coaches. I counted her as one I have heard of.

3 digits (first digit odd) are spurs from interstate to something else...
3 digits (first digit even) leave the interstate system and reconnect to it, so they are basically bypasses (which in some cases they "bypass" on both sides which makes them beltways)
Spurs (first digit odd)... leaves interstate and ends somewhere
581 -- connects I-81 to Roanoke
195 -- connects I-95 to BWI
395 -- connects I-95 to downtown DC
795 -- connects I-695 (Baltimore beltway) to NW suburbs
Bypasses/beltways/interstate connectors (first digit even) -- leaves AND reconnects with interstate system:
270 -- connects I-70 in Frederick to I-495
495 -- beltway around DC
695 -- beltway around Baltimore
295 -- bypasses Richmond on the eastern sides

We host Ole Miss in the ACC/SEC Challenge
Matchups from Jon Rothstein:
Ark @ UNC
Auburn @ Clemson
Duke @ Florida
BC @ Georgia
Wake @ LSU
Pitt @ Missouri
Syracuse @ Oklahoma
Ole Miss @ VT
South Carolina @ NC State
Florida St @ Tennessee
Texas @ Louisville
Alabama @ Miami
Kentucky @ UVa
GaTech @ MissSt
Stanford @ Texas A&M
Vandy @ Notre Dame
Looks like Cal and SMU are the odd teams out (ACC has 18 teams, SEC 16).

All depends on conference strength in non-conf games
That is always a key factor in how many teams a conference will get in because it gets set in stone by late December and after that the conference teams just take turns beating each other and the overall conference strength rating can't change much.
Now if you are saying that the ACC is guaranteed now to forever be behind those two conferences given the current strength of programs, ability to spend, etc -- well, that may be true. But if you are claiming that there will be an implicit selection bias for those two conferences even if the on-court results don't show them to be the best -- I honestly don't think that's the case. Every year you can look at the various metrics as a result of non-conference play and come pretty close to guessing how many teams each conference will wind up getting.

Of course with a 76 team tournament, I think 9-9 ACC is going to be pretty
much a lock every year. And it wouldn't surprise if an occasional 8-10 ACC team made it depending on what kind of year the conferences is having.

Pretty sure it was 101 Dalmations but...
...I see that came out in 1961 and I wasn't born yet.
Would it have had a theater re-release around 1969 or 1970????
And yes, thank you Wikipedia... it was re-released theatrically in 1969, 1979, 1985, and 1991.
So my memory of being 5 years old was right on point.

And there's about 360 teams in D1
You could still have 128 without having teams with losing records.
But you would be adding all the 2nd and 3rd place teams in lower level conferences, and to be honest, few people are interested in seeing those teams.

We were very bad those 3 years.

We used it at our tailgates last year
A friend of ours has it and has subscriptions to ESPN+, Paramount (which gets you any sports on CBS or CBSSports). So he used his Starlink at our tailgates to access the internet and stream live sports on a TV at all our tailgates.
It was quite the success; in the past we had used a dish and it was very difficult to get it positioned, and you couldn't get to over the air channels. Now we can get ABC via ESPN+, and CBS via Paramount. Who cares about NBC (Notre Dame and some Big 10) or Fox (mostly Big 10). And Direct TV sometimes took forever to lock in and initialize.
Our TV viewing at the tailgates took a big step forward with Starlink last year.

Their football coach won Super Bowls, their basketball coach won NBA titles
I guess since college sports is now professional sports, it makes sense.

Batters should, as they always have, swing at any strike with 2 strikes
All the ABS did was correctly identify a strike that wasn't called. It shouldn't affect batters' strategy.
Sooner or later there will be a ball called strike 3 that is overruled by ABS, and called ball 4 instead. Will your reaction when that happens suddenly flip and you will say that batters should start taking more pitches with full counts in case they get an ABS overrule?

I've had button fly's, but they aren't worth the effort
Standing there at the urinal, really need to pee, you don't want to be sitting there fighting with multiple buttons. You need the ease of a quick unzip.

NIT/postseason tournament news
Belmont announces they will not accept an NIT invitation.
The CBI announces it won't hold a tournament this year. (The CIT previously folded).
So the only two tournaments left outside the NCAA are the NIT and the Crown Tournament (held all in Las Vegas, run by Fox, and predominately inviting teams from conferences that have Fox TV contracts -- Big 10, Big East, Big 12). And players are PAID additional NIL money by Fox to play in the Crown Tournament, so you won't see teams refusing to play in that.
Wonder how much longer the NIT will last? Last year 11 teams rejected invitations, mostly from major conferences. So far this year, VT and Belmont have. Probably will get to double digits again.
For the NIT to survive, either ESPN will have to pony up like Fox has, and pay players NIL money for participating in the NIT. Or else individual teams that really want their players to play in the NIT will have to sign players to contracts stipulating that they will play. At which point the agents representing the players will ask for extra compensation if their players play in the NIT. Will schools (i.e. donors) decide to come up with that money?
If the NIT doesn't find a way to pay the employees who participate, like the Crown does, it will fade away in a few years like the CBI.
Folks, the above is exactly what all this is about. Money. Nothing else. Anyone framing this discussion in terms of loyalty, team spirit, school spirit, leadership, or some kind of moral principle is just pontificating or moralizing, and not addressing what's actually happening. College athletes are now paid employees and they negotiate the terms of their employment. If it is important to us that our teams play in the NIT, then we need to negotiate contracts with our players that stipulate that, which may require paying them extra to play in the NIT. Or else the NIT will have to start paying players like the Crown does.

Last year, 11 teams declined the NIT
Florida State
Indiana
LSU
Nevada
Northwestern
Pittsburgh
Providence
Rutgers
South Carolina
UNLV
Wake Forest
Just provided for information.
And none of those 11 teams made the NCAA tournament this year. Once again, not implying a connetion, just providing information.

I'd say Schutt also has to hit some 3s but I'm afraid he has forgotten how
He had 12 3s in our first 5 ACC games.
He has 15 in our last 13 ACC games, including 6 games with 0.

What about fastest expansion team to win a World Series?
They won the WS in their 5th year of existence. Unless you go back to the early 1900s, I doubt any other team can say that.
That was going to be my 2nd guess after Leyland but if I understand the Lounge Trivia Bylaws correctly I was not allowed to put a 2nd guess.
