What's your favorite BBQ style?
Disclaimer: I haven't eaten any BBQ that I didn't like, so bring it! (But I haven't tried "Alabama style.")

Doesn't VA have some kind of BBQ with white sauce?
I think its more of a Tidewater thing, never seen in in Northern VA. ** Edited by HokieNoVA at 5/29/2026, 10:09:54 AM

Lexington, Eastern, Texas in that order.
I will eat BBQ just about everywhere but the absolute worst BBQ I have eaten was in Las Vegas. In a place with great restaurants, BBQ is severely lacking.

If it's not pork, it ain't BBQ ... it's just grilling. 😎🤙🏻

Yeah, I'm seeing the Alabama white sauce on chicken...
seems more like a Buffalo wings category thing rather than bbq. ** Edited by `lag at 5/30/2026, 12:13:53 PM

They all sound good, and I would definitely like to try that Bama sauce
with chicken. The horseradish got me - love that stuff. I only know how to make Eastern Carolina style pulled pork. I'm having pulled pork topped with coleslaw sandwiches for lunch, in fact. I would love to have brisket skills, but I tried it once, and it was such a disaster that I shamefully withdrew from any further attempts.

Best BBQ I've ever had was at a little hole in the wall joint in St. Louis
named Bogart's, about 10 minutes south of the Arch. Their burnt ends were one of the top 3 things I've ever tasted, and their baked beans were so good I'm pretty sure the guy making them sold his soul for the recipe.

I went to St Louis on business a couple of months ago. Decided that since
St Louis style ribs were a thing, we needed to try some. Definitely some of the best I ever had.

Alabama is good. Different, but good
You just have to realize that it isn’t what you’re used to.
