To the best of my memory and checking on dates when movies came out. Northfork WV. There was a theater there down behind, or next to, the high school. Mom took me and my siblings to see it. I always remembered the spagetti dinner scene.
The next closest one I remember is Old Yeller or Godzilla (1957) at the Pocahontas theater in Welch WV. Always loved their hot dogs. Everything tasted better when you were a kid.

Would it have had a theater re-release around 1969 or 1970????
And yes, thank you Wikipedia... it was re-released theatrically in 1969, 1979, 1985, and 1991.
So my memory of being 5 years old was right on point.

Edit: it was probably Fox and the Hound. 1981. Bambi wasn't until 1982.

Although I can't be sure it wasn't one of those movies that were shown once a year on tv. I'm pretty sure it was the first time I sort of got what "music" was and liked the "March of the toy soldiers" and wanted to hear it again even though I didn't/couldn't really follow the plot of the movie.. Before that I was pretty clueless what music was supposed to do. Even now if someone were to ask me what my favorite tunes of all time I would include that even though I don't remember what I liked about it. I mean, it's a pretty snappy tune but just can't pull in any memory of it.
I'll give myself credit, it had Annette Funicello in it.

movies were re-released in the theater every 7 years or something like that.
First PG movie was some underwater semi adventure not necessarily Disney movie. I only remember it because my parents spent a long time discussing if my sister and I were old enough to go to a PG movie.

and that was just from seeing the previews. It came out when I was two years old so I'm trying to figure out how I ever saw the previews. Maybe my parents just took me along instead of hiring a babysitter or something.

local theater. Mom or my aunts took me. I remember crying when Bambi's mom got shot. The other memory was Lady & the Tramp and 100 and one dalmations.

I only remember being in the theater and seeing the post credits commercial for Back to the Future III. Barely. I was 3. Something bout the Indians chasing the Delorian really excited me.
