Monroe?

I just read this the other day and I'm annoyed that I can't remember it.

The Lounge 2 mo ago

I think it was Back to the Future II. I don't remember the film

I only remember being in the theater and seeing the post credits commercial for Back to the Future III. Barely. I was 3. Something bout the Indians chasing the Delorian really excited me.

There is feline life back in my house. Signed up to foster with

a local foster outfit. Originally we wanted to adopt two kittens, but after popping by the SPCA a couple weeks back, they didn't have any in stock. Linked up with Purring Hearts Virginia and they immediately had a mama and five kittens that needed fostering. That's right, we've got 6 cats in this house. I'm now putting each of them through a series of tough challenges and panel interviews to see if any of them make the cut to become a Hurley. It's been really fun having them. They are so small and so gosh darn cute (said in a manly way). The mama cat is also awesome. Looking at their paperwork yesterday I noticed the kittens were born on Saint Patrick's Day. Seems like a sign that this will be a good group.

Still got it. Caught the eye of a hottie this weekend. Rico-Suave-Hurley

'Twas down at the Foxfield races on Saturday and a car backed into the spot next to us. My buddy and I are standing there and this 20-something young lady gets out of the backseat and points right at me. A look in her eyes that says "I must have that." She continues pointing at me and walking towards me. My buddy and I are very confused. I've never had game in my life, but here I am totally crushing it by just standing there. As she approaches I quickly realize something, she's not pointing at me. She pointing behind me, at the trash can where she proceeds to stumble and throw up like crazy.

Got my Makers Mark Golden Ticket. My Ambassador Batch has been bottled.

Anyone ever done this? I only vaguely remember what this is. I signed up as an ambassador and they threw my name on a barrel, I think. Now that booze has aged and is bottled 'ready for my arrival.' No way that liquor is actually from "my barrel," right? That seems like a logistical nightmare. I assume if I go on this tour they'll just put my name on whatever bottles they've got behind the counter in the gift shop.

Just adopted a highway. I now own my street and I shall rule with an iron

fist. Any of you baboons find yourselves in Quinton, you best hope to avoid Hurley Highway. For it be ye women and ye gold we take before allowing safe passage to greater New Kent.

The Lounge 4 mo ago

Sweet. Then this will probably be a 'show up early for a bit, leave before

it gets crazy' type thing. Then head to the three Irish pubs over in wonderful Shockhoe Bottom.

The Lounge 4 mo ago

Any you Richmond folk been to the Shamrock the Block? Going tomorrow with a

buddy. Based solely on photos, this appears to be the young person's Saint Patrick's Day event and the Church Hill Irish Festival is the older one. Is that accurate? Are we walking into a young-20's rage fest full of beer bongs and shotgunning? If so, sign me up! Looking at you @MP4VT2004

I think this one served me well. The glaze is really the star

I'll be honest, I don't really remember much of the corned beef but that glaze was awesome. Planning on using that glaze on some country ham sandwiches.

I was not excited when my wife chose this for movie night one night. "What

the hell is this sissy crap? Why aren't we watching Lethal Weapon 1-4 plus the Always Sunny installments?" But I tell ya, once they started blasting out the tunes I was enjoying it.

The Lounge 5 mo ago

I'm ready. I got one of them baseball bats with nails sticking out the top.

Got the handle of the bat in one hand, and knockin the barrel into the palm of my other, like a tough guy. Not a smart thing to be doing with nails sticking out of it

The Lounge 5 mo ago

I've seen that guy! He's damn good. I think he's also friends w/my buddy

When I lived in Annandale there was a concert series in the local park and he was one of the performers one weekend. He was great.

The Lounge 5 mo ago

McCormick's on 18th. It was a fine time, just a hilarious change from the

festival up the road. We did, thanks for asking. Hit Kilmarnock for a couple days, what a lovely place. On the way into town I saw a sign for a concert on 2/28 and started laughing cause it's my buddy's band. He didn't tell me he was going to be performing anywhere near me, though he also probably has no idea where Quinton is. Another friend and I are heading up there on Saturday to see them rock some Celtic tunes.

That area could be really cool. I went to the Irish pub there after the

Church Hill Irish Festival last year. It was incredible. I went from Darby O'Gill and the Little People to Leprechaun in the Hood in about half a mile. And I mean that, they were showing Leprechaun in the Hood on the TV in the bar. I do like getting the train from there, much more convenient station for me. But their schedule is very limited compared to Staples Mill.

The Lounge 5 mo ago

That shooting was awful. I read this quote from one a bar worker there

"We didn't take it serious at first because we are in Shockoe Bottom. So we're used to the gunshots" what an awesome indictment of that area.

The Lounge 5 mo ago

Hey @Stork, thanks again for the recommendation. We ended up stayin

right in Kilmarnock. Hit that huge antique spot Saturday, bought way more than I would've expected. Did a run up to Tappahannock to eat at 1710 Tavern and go to Acme Antiques (what a wonderful place). Humorously, as we're pulling into Kilmarnock I see a sign for a concert: "Foot stompin music!" I read the band's name, Scythian, and go "Holy smokes!" That's my buddy's band and I haven't seen him in a couple years. So I'm going back up in a couple weeks to surprise him. Staying in White Stone that evening and checking out The Quays. Been a while since I've been to an Irish pub. Oddly, not a lot of them here in Quinton.

The Lounge 5 mo ago

@Stork, thank you for this. Booking a bed and breakfast up there

Between Irvington and Kilmarnock. This area looks like just the thing to get our minds off this nonsense.

The Lounge 5 mo ago

Haha. That was my first thought but we've already done Staunton and I'd

like to try somewhere new. Haven't spent much time south of Richmond, other than driving through to visit '08 in NC. Could go east too, but somewhere other than Williamsburg/the Triangle. We live 30 minutes from there and go there regularly.

The Lounge 5 mo ago

Looking for weekend destination within 2hrs, heading south, of Richmond

Cat #2 is scheduled for the needle on Wednesday. After the run we've had I think it'd be good for the wife and I to get out of this death house for a few days and the long weekend seems like the perfect time. Cute small-town type place would do us just fine. She likes those thrift and antique type stores, so towns with those would be good. Thanks all.

Took our other cat to urgent care yesterday. "You should think about puttin

her down." She had fluids all up in her lungs and around her heart. She's 18 years old, so it makes sense we're getting to that point but, my word, her timing could not be worse after we just put Opie down on Saturday. We had them drain the fluids and they gave us some drugs that'll hopefully help delay the inevitable for a little longer. Thankfully, other than her breathing being quite labored yesterday, she hadn't been in any noticeable distress and has still been curling up and purring. But I say, the timing is just comical. The emergency vet must've thought we were psychos when she broke the news, cause we both just started laughing in a "Of (bleeping) course" kind of way. Then my wife started sobbing and we told her about Opie.
