US50 Bay Bridge toll question
Does it take VA EZPass or only Maryland. Looks like it takes both but you have to pay a higher toll for out-of-state EZPass.
I'd prefer not to have it toll-by-plate as I'm driving a church van full of scouts to summer camp and we have to go over the bridge to get to our destination. Don't want them to get stuck with the bill and likely miss it in the mail then get the plates suspended.

The states just take care of billing and accounting for their own people, it is a multi-state program.
I don't think an EZPass would work with some other program, like SunPass or whatever it is called in Florida (if that thing is still around). But I have used my EZPass literally hundreds of times outside of Maryland (in Virginia, Delaware, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, and Massachusetts).

I'm cheap. I'll find a way around a toll. Just not viable this time, have to go almost Wilmington and come back down to avoid the toll. adding +2 hours.

The toll-by-plate is more expensive, from what I can see. And you'll also want to check what the church van qualifies as in terms of type of vehicle -- there are higher rates for larger vehicles. Finally, be aware that technically you can't just take your EZ Pass and stick it in another vehicle. You can add additional vehicles to your account, though.

Okay, that's quite confusing in the way it's worded
They're calling EZ Pass "EZ Pass Maryland." The two costs are for using EZ Pass Marylnd and not using EZ Pass Maryland -- e.g., plate readings. It's not for Maryland vs non-Maryland.
Any state that uses EZ Pass has a recipricol agreement with other states to use it in their state. So it's the same cost if you have EZ Pass, no matter which state you live in.

higher rate. EZPass is EZPass whether you got it from Maryland, Virginia, New York, or anywhere else that uses it.
