6 weeks if you count a MNC prep week. That's crazy. I'd be ok with eliminating CCGs, if everyone played a round robin conference schedule, but that isn't possible with the current alignment. Since CCGs are somewhat necessary, there really should be no more than 16 teams.

FBS (current G5) may play SPS (Semi-pro subdivision, current P4) and FCS. No games allowed between SPS and FCS. All three have their own championship with FBS going back to a Bowl +1 championship. SPS would have a 12-16 team playoff. FCS would continue with a 24 team playoff.

Make the 3 Boise St., Oregon St., and Memphis (formerly St.) Every team plays 1 from each of the other divisions. Four team playoff of division champs to determine conference champ. The divisions would resemble Pac +Boise and BYU, XII + SMU, Big East + UVA, ACC

I think they are in worse position than us. Being small in this day and age is a real impediment. Football viewership is low and political forces are against them. Their best asset basketball, has a strange symbiotic relationship with UNC-ch. If they are split in different conferences, the rivalry may grow moss.

Most rivalries, the lifeblood of college football, were given life through conference affiliations. Conferences also make scheduling easier and more consistent. The problem with conferences is how media deals are negotiated and revenue is distributed. The fact that these deals are made by conference instead of individual members leads to the inequity of Vanderbilt and Rutgers making 2-3 times what FSU does. My proposal is for the NCAA, or its successor, make the media deals, as they did in the past. But now, distribute the money based on A) Viewership and B) Performance. Under my proposal, schools like Ohio St and Notee Dame would earn the most having had success on the field and high TV ratings. FSU would be in the middle of the pack, having had a horrendous season but still solid ratings. SMU would be on par with FSU with the opposite results of a good season that no one watched. Wake Fores would earn the least since they won few games and no one cared. When you dive into the numbers, schools like Clemson, whose current media rights are undervalued, would get a bump in revenue, by redistributing the revenue from overvalued schools like Northwestern and Mississippi St. Make this fundamental change and conference expansion would stop. FSU and Clemson's grievances would melt away. We could even see a return to logical, traditional conferences.

New Pac will be better than the AAC, so I expect 12-15M. 15M if they can land Memphis, Tulane, USF. 12M if not.

I'm not sure we would have achived the heights that we did if not for the path that we took, though. The Big East, whether we like the conference or not, was very good for Hokie football. The ACC has been good for all Hokies. Would the all-sport Metro have been good for us? We'll never know.

A Texas-Michigan regular season game will get better ratings than a championship game in the next tier, no matter who plays in it. We have no leverage with football until our on field product improves and more of our fans watch the games. Shutting them out of March Madness is our bargaining chip. With the basketball-first/only schools and conferences, we have the numbers.

We have gone from promoting our bona fides for belonging in the P2 to hoping for help. This is what losing to SEC's worst team (Vanderbilt) and B1G's worst team (Rutgers) gets you. It's making me sick.

you aren't getting WBB or MBB, just football. UCONN football. I'd rather have App St. or even Troy than UCONN football.

they need 4 MORE from the MWC. They need 9 votes to dissolve and currently have 5 of them. No poaching penalties, no exit fees. The downside is the zombie Pac would only be modestly better than the old MWC and current AAC. It looks like they are going to have to take at least one more from the MWC anyway unless NMSU or UTEP from Cusa shows a bit of leg. There's always the possibility UConn moves for football, but I wouldn't bet on it.

I start with a solid linebacker corps and good offensive line. These are our weak areas. We have NFL talent in the other areas QB, RB, CB, DL. OL is beat up and never was deep. other than having lived in TX briefly in 96-97, but that game was a big deal when I was a kid. I'm stoked that the ACC is now a part of it. The XII-ACC are now rival conferences and these schools are the standard bearers in the rivalry. Pony Up!

Currently, the AAC media deal is higher than MWC. The new Pac should be worth more, but it may not be enough to justify the move. I'm just not sure anyone like Memphis or Tulane would jump. If the Pac still had power status, this would be an entirely different conversation.

I think you might be suggesting a trio of Louisville, Pitt, GT. In that case, those teams make more sense in a breakaway conference, since it requires 8 teams minimum per NCAA, and 10 votes to dissolve.
