You have to always have new content to stay relevant. A partnership with the ACC, where amazon could do some films, maybe a series where they follow 5 to 10 teams (like Hard Knocks), and other things would be regular content that be of greater value than its cost.

in BBALL. Stuff thats on ACCNX is basically produced at low cost, and right now isnt generating much revenue. I think there is a push here to redo the ACC TV deal. Would require ESPN to sign off but I think they might be willing to allow CW and Amazon to get some content in such a way it both increases the ACC's take home, and lowers what ESPN has to shell out without giving up TOO much content.

Wrestling is low cost from a facilities stand point, and it important to the NC schools. Im not sure what the +/- is on annual basis but I would think it cant cost that much to have a great program. Softball is the same way, imo if there is a sport that a single large infusion of cash would turn into a revenue generator it would be softball.

If laws need to be changed updated, all that needs to be done is the universities together need to ask. Senator Rouse among others is very plugged into this.

Non-revs are going to have to take a back-seat for a while, VT invested in them heavily from 2003 to 2015, to get them on par with ACC peer's. Now we have to get football back to 10 win seasons. If that means we have to cut funding from other places, for the short term, then so be it. I dont want to see scholarships cut, but it might be time to trim around the edges. I think softball would be an interesting case study. Lets say the university made a 1 time investment in softball of 15 million for a new stadium, that supported ticketing, had suites, better and more seating, and could be used to generate revenue in other ways ie renting it out the suites for tailgating, ect. Would that be enough to make softball revenue neutral on an annual basis. If so then its likely worth considering, if not then imo the return doesnt justify the investment.

I think with Whit asking for 100 more olympic scholarship, they are not currently looking to cut sports. IMO i read this ask, stop making football and basketball pay for other sports. Doing quick math, if we let football keep all the profits from it, it would about fill in the gaps in our spending on football.

Football TV ratings are the biggest part there. Clemson needs money to keep up with SEC, having the best players is the best way to make sure they get great TV spots, and are in the Playoffs every year.

2022 to current, the 4th big 10 team seldom belongs in the national title discussion, the 4th SEC team generally seems to have an argument however.

When Im meeting with family with a new driver, i often recommend some telematics. State Farm calls is Drive Safe and Save, Progressive Calls it Snap shot. Just about every company has one. It can be a great tool to see a persons driving habits, and coach them up! All of these accidents see to be focus/distraction related from what I see in the industry. May be worth looking into the software that auto locks the phone while driving. If you havent reported the 4th accident i would STRONGLY consider self-paying. 3 at fault accidents (possibly 4 because usually to cover damage to 2 cars, insurance companies open 2 claims) will make him just about un-insuranable cost wise.

The ACC/ESPN current contract subleases to Raycom, then when they would under, CW bought that, which im sure required the ACC to consent to. Other than that, I do NOT think they have sublease provisions. At least not what I have read in everything that was public, and I wouldn't think a sublease provision would have been redacted. I'm not sure under the current agreement if the CW(formally racom) pays ESPN and its included in its payments to the ACC or if the CW pays the ACC direct. ESPN need to cut costs, so selling 1 more football game a weekend, and maybe 25% of the basketball games, isnt going to leave it short on content, will still have plenty. I would think that it would also get some cash from CW for the sublease, and the ACC is going to get more revenue, more games on TV, and everyone benefits if the brands get stronger.

CW is taking over for NBC/Turner sports early, doing the last 8 races this year. All of them will have ACC football games either leading into, or following. CW needs something to lead into, or follow Xfinity on Saturdays. College football and nascar overlap fan wise in ACC/SEC country. Charles Barkley backtracked from retiring, and is going to work out his contract, the only reason Turner Sports would want to keep him is if they had more sports IE acc basketball coming. The New ACC/ESPN agreement to sublease content to another provider, to do more than the raycom legacy package would require the ACC to approve. The ACC has no incentive to approve unless they are getting more money. The only way to get more money with to bring in another broadcaster. I think either Turner Sports for Warner Brothers Discovery, or the CW (also partially owned by Warner Brothers Discovery, is trying to sublease part of the package from ESPN. Would give them content to lead up to the Nascar Xfinity races on CW and or College Football Playoff coverage, and replacing the NBA coverage that TNT lost. HOWEVER you would want all of this quiet as hell until it was ready to be voted on, to keep from being outbid. ESPN would lose the ACC rights if they went on the open market. The ACC agreements MAY need to the tv contract to be enforceable. So long as the money comes up closer to SEC/Big Ten than Big 12, I think FSU Clemson and company with quiet down, and well end up with some "performance adjustments" to how the money get split up.

He has supported the AD, and understands its function as marketing/outreach/PR for the university. He's the one that pushed to change the uni logo to the modified flying VT. He will make sure we have a seat a the table, from his time at Purdue he has lots of Big 10 contacts. IMO we are closing in on AAU anyway, imo we are better suited to move to the big 10 than UVA would be. Sands efforts to grow VT have NOT gone unnoticed in the college world. People see is is furthering the work of those before him to turn VT into a powerhouse. The amazon/nova stuff was a HUGE shot across the bow that VT will be a major player moving forward.

Conf leadership, and the other schools are against it. This lawsuit furthers the chance the other school can be brought to heel. IF FSU/Clemson get out, UNC NCST UVA VT and Miami wont be far behind. Then whats lefts will be BELOW some of the group of 5 conf in value. This lawsuit is targeted to resolve the exit fee, and media rights issue. Getting either resolved, but not both likely forces other ACC schools to either allow unequal distributions, or realize they will be left behind. VT/UVA via VA Attorneys Generals office, are keeping a close eye on things. If there was to be a filing I think it would include both school, and would be Richmond.

They wanted us to come in with Texas A&M. Which would have made way more sense, that Mizzu. We would not have done as well jumping from Big East Strait to SEC.

Include Raycom, at below market value, than he was likely breaking his Fiduciary responsibility to get the best deal possible. That is a big hill to climb, unless you already have what you need. No one in the ACC is happy with the current TV contract. It would not shock me if someone inside had/was helped FSU get documents/emails ect. IF FSU could show this, it would be enough imo, to potentially threaten the ACC TV contract. This would likely bring ESPN to the table, and imo the best outcome is a NEW TV deal, with FSU staying. Additionally I think the governance structure needs to be improved. IMO University Presidents dont have the time or energy to supervise the conference. Each school should appoint a rep, someone that can meet more than 2 or 3 times a year.
