IF Pry doesn’t survive past this year
Pat Fitzgerald would be my pick
Just absolved of any hazing allegations at NW
Guy can coach & you know after this experience he’d likely be more attentive to team bonding dynamics
He’s a “do more with less” kind of coach

We are already in the danger zone of falling behind financially, being stuck in the ACC, not producing winning teams, and getting buried on crappy tv channels.
Hiring a good coach is not enough to save VT. If a change happens, then we need an injection of energy that gets the national media excited. UNC and Colorado understand this and went for ratings. VT is in need of similar excitement.

The 31-year-old Pry, who listed an address of Red Barn Lane, Sylva, is charged with driving while impaired and assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury, according to Capt. R.S. Sutton of the Maggie Valley Police Department.Sutton said an altercation occurred around 2:20 a.m. in the Thunder Ridge parking lot. Although witness accounts varied, apparently Pry's Jeep struck a Thunder Ridge employee, Rodney Green, with the wheel running over his right leg, Sutton said. Pry then left the scene, according to the officer.

Probably ran over the employee for putting a bumper sticker on his vehicle.

we're talking football not church group. i'm ok with some roughness around the edges.
i was just trying to compare hiring gruden with his "allegations" to pry, who has his own. and got called crazy by 1947 for doing so.

Whit must know that if he fires Pry, he'll be fired too, right? What university would give an AD a third chance to hire a coach when the first two were fired for lack of performance? So he'd be signing his own pink slip. If Pry struggles again this year, the President needs to fire Whit. Let a new AD figure out who should lead the football program.

If Pry was one more bad season away from being canned, why would you even allow him to hire a whole new crew? I think '26 is a forgone conclusion barring a total collapse (3 win) this season.

Gruden (and Barstool?) would inject some life into the program. I'm with it.

Market is NOW for power 4 coach 6-8 million plus 1 to 1.2 milliion of coordinaors and the demand for double staff and support NOW, no promises. and also buy out of Pry and his staff. this could be up to almost 15-20 million separation charges That money would be taken away from the 140 million exisitng budget returningto VT budget to be 122 million again 1 year later 14-15 in the ACC While the clock is clicking to 2030 when things are happening and only candidzates that have 180-200 million annual budget would be considered. (its not just about hte wins its about sound power 2 business operation

if Pry moves on.
With NIL, this is basically a professional outfit now. We don't need to continue to put so much emphasis on "cultural fit", and "charm". It doesn't win games, and when you're buying players, it doesn't help in recruiting either.
In that regard, I want to see an absolute assassin of a football coach. A WINNER, all business. I don't care if he's great with the media, I don't care if he doesn't say "aw shucks". Take former GT coach Paul Johnson as an example. I'm not talking about his particular x/o's philosophy, but rather his confidence and absolute mastery of his method. I'd even say somebody like former VT bb coach Buzz Williams. Guy just knows how to quickly strip down and rebuild a loser into a competitive outfit.

names for the 2025 silly season come Thanksgiving.
If Whit would have grabbed JMU coaches in football like he did in a couple of other sports, we'd probably have a better football program right now....
