I just listened to 'Choosin' Texas' for the first time...
...and I don't get all the fuss. It's a pleasant little country tune...but I'm seeing lots of hype...calling it an "instant country classic." I don't get that at all.
Is that a statement on the current state of country music? The fans here will havta tell me.
Ella is always good to look at...but I'm not overwhelmed by anything I've heard her sing.

FIFA: Belgium's appeal is inadmissible. Balogun is eligigle to play tonight
FIFA's Appeal Committee has rendered request by Belgian FA as βinadmissibleβ as Belgium βnot a party to the proceedings and, as such, has no standing to appeal the decision.β

In a bold move...the entire US soccer team will play Monday night...
...with 'Messi' printed on each jersey.
I like it!

Do you accept suggestions?
The Tune Inn in DC should be on the list...as should Cowboy Cafe in Arlington, VA.
Cool site. Great idea. Sharing it with pals.

Eye Doc changed the prescription on my glasses. Just picked 'em up.
Re-reading some of my old posts now...and realizing they really weren't that funny.
You knew that already.

Belmont Quiz: "He's moving like a tremendous machine!"
Has anyone ever described anything you have ever done with those words?

The new rules that are set to take place...
...will require experience climbing an 8,000 meter peak previously. If enacted (still a big "if")...that would cut the number of knuckleheads up there dramatically.

Nepal has issued 464 Mt. Everest permits this year at $15,000 each.
That's the third most-ever...a cool $7,000,000 in Everest income for Nepal...and a certain cluster F*** up on the mountain! Important to remember that some of those permits have been issued to teams of many, many climbers and support personnel. Nepal has proposed tight new rules for Everest that would go into effect next year, so lots of folks are trying to get their climb in this season ahead of that. To be sure...the Nepalese government is a mess at the moment...and there's no guarantee that the new rules will ever be realized. But a big crowd up there this season just in case.
With all the trash, frozen corpses and life-threatending queues up high on the mountain...I just don't get the lure anymore. Mountaineering experience accounts for zero...if you get stuck behind a retired accountant with a big dream and lots of cash...at 25,000 feet.
If you're so inclined to follow what's almost certain to be a debacle...this guy does a pretty decent job of tracking all the activity up there.

If rodent droppings become a significant factor during your vacation...
...you REALLY do need to make better travel choices!
I've been on some bad trips in my time...
Prices were high
Food was lousy
People were pushy
Transportation options sucked
Rodent droppings have never come into play. Ever.

The 24-hour news channel for sure! His famous quote...
...to the suits who told him there is no market demand for 24-hour news:
"How can you measure market demand for something that doesn't exist? Give them the product. The demand will follow."
He was right.

I'm gonna guess you've never heard of Kami Rita Sherpa...
...but he's about to become the first human to reach the summit of Mt. Everest 32 times!
That's gonna be a great rap with the chicks at the bars in Kathmandu!

Starting to think I'll never wear a tie again.
I have been to weddings, funerals, (allegedly) important career/job-related events and upscale restaurants in the past several months...and not a single tie to be seen. After 20 + years as a gubment administrator, I have quite the collection. Thinking I'm gonna trash most of them, and maybe just save 4 or 5 favorites for the rare moment when I feel like a tie might be required or needed.
I honestly can't recall the last time I wore one.

Rory was asked why he didn't include Irish cuisine in his Champion's dinner
"Because I wanted to enjoy the dinner as well."

Additional context...
A little more context to Faldo's concern. The PGA Tour pays Tiger an extraordinary amount of money. Much more than most realize. A $100 million equity payment in 2024 as part of the new PGA Tour Enterprises player equity program. More than $40 million from the Player Impact Program and millions more for his participation on various PGA committees.
I think what Faldo is asking is this: If Tiger isn't willing and able to fix whatever's wrong, should the PGA continue to support him at that level?

My guess...
...is that he'll make mostly ceremonial appearances on the senior tour. Just enough face time to remain relevant with all his business deals.

Nick Faldo on Tiger Woods
βTiger Woods should not be welcomed back with open arms. Our sport is based on discipline. You rule yourself. You police yourself. I would have thought the PGA Tour...behind closed doors...must be very disappointed that they pay Tiger tens of millions to be on the course and off the course with this business role he has got (as chairman of the player-driven Future Competitions Committee)."
βHe has only finished nine tournaments in the last five years, yet they feel he is the future on the golf course and the future in the decision-making and they must sayβ¦βoh boy, what do we get out of that?β In the normal walk of life, there would be some accountability.β

Found a box with old cell phones and I have pulled all the SIM cards...
...and performed a full reset on all of 'em in preparation for discard.
What do you guys do with old SIM cards? I mean...it's not like they take up much space. I put them in an envelope and dropped them in my desk drawer...but it's probably safe to just put them in the trash, 'eh?
