Anyone else think this has been a very dry spring?
I think we've only had one good rain in the last two months.

It's been constant rain. The well roads are mud. The yard has standing rain on it. If we want to go canoeing in May, we will probably have to carry the canoes a couple hundred yards vice getting up to the barn overland via vehicle. The springs are bursting. We got the mower deck on the tractor, but my 94 year old father in law has had enough dry days to attack the grass. Come up and get some rain of you want it

I pray it does. I went through an exceptional drought in 2007 and it was scary. I remember going to my municipalities' lake reservoir and walking out in the cove next to the Filter Plant. Under normal conditions there would have been 20 feet of water over my head. In Statesville, the water level dropped below their intake and the restaurants were serving food on paper plates and plastic utensils that they would just throw away instead of washing. By the 2040s, projected water demands in the Catawba River Basin are expected to fully consume available drought‑safe yield, requiring conservation, reuse, and operational changes to avoid shortages. Reclaimed water systems will become more prominent throughout the region.

this it makes me think about how the region handled it 250 or 350 or 800 years ago. Droughts aren't new, but the impact is driven home more. Aeons ago, if it got so dry to be a fire danger, only lightning or a freak coincidental flint spark could cause a fire. We can do that so many hundreds of ways more now.
