Belmont Quiz: "He's moving like a tremendous machine!"
Has anyone ever described anything you have ever done with those words?

I wonder if Secretariat would be as dominant today.
Not because today’s horses are faster. I don’t think they are. But when there are ~15 horses in a race, the best horse can easily lose if they get jammed up behind a pack of other horses. Wasn’t as much of an issue 50 years ago when there were far fewer horses in the race.

Obviously, more horses = more traffic. However, Secretariat was unique.
He would have dominated any field in the Belmont on that WIDE track. Pimlico is a much narrower track, but the fields are traditionally much smaller. CD would be a much tougher track for him, but with his tactical speed and ability to pick his position in the race, he would have likely made it his race. Prime Secretariat was an animal to behold. He was like Lance Armstrong (without the drugs) and The Grinch after his conversion. He was Pistol Pete Wilt Chamberlin.

Well said. Greatest race horse ever.

So far 13 horses have won the Triple Crown. It is too bad people will
never have the opportunity to see all 13 on the same 3 tracks at the same time to see how they would stack up against each other.

Because it could be quite the "event," I would even be willing to include
some of the top non-derby races too. At least I think the demand could be there where people would want to see them race each other more than just the 3 races.

Belmont typically has a smaller field. Looks like 12 max. 9 this year.

There were 13 in '73 Derby. While we'll never know I'd say holding the
record for all three triple crown races 53 years later says he would still dominate.

Great point. Only 5 horses in that race.

Because the other owners realized just how much Big Red dominated the first
two legs of the Triple Crown. No reason to enter your horse in a race if you don't think you have a reasonable chance of winning it.
