I'm beginning to wonder if SMU is part of a play for some big 12 schools
Landing SMU, OK St and 2 from (Baylor, Houston, TT, TCU) would give you 18. Big 12 then picks up the last 4 pack 12 teams to replace what we took.
3 6 Team pods
Central Pod SMU, OK St, Texas team 1, Texas Team 2, UL, FSU
Mid Atlantic Pod UNC, NCST, Duke, Wake, UVA, VT
Everyone else pod Miami, Pitt, Cuse, BC, Clemson GT
Play the 5 teams in your pod and 2 each from other pods, and 1 rival for 9 games a year

We have Jim Phillips who stood up and said that "We need a Strong Big XII". I don't think he expected the PAC12 to fall apart though.

pulling in teams like the ones the Big 12 have pulled in does nothing.
Ask yourself in the new "pro" vs college leagues, will there be enough $$$ to hold together such a far flung conference? My guess is no.

That the B12 survived their implosion without us getting at least one Texas team and OK State from them is beyond stupid, IMO.
Almost as dumb as the PAC not doing it.

ACC is not getting any Big 12 schools because a GoR has been signed until 2031. No Big 12 team is going to break it to come to the ACC.

We are talking about the ACC crumbling and we’ve got twice the years on our GOR as the Big XII…. I totally agree with you about nobody leaving the Big XII, but just sayin….if GOR’s don’t matter for the ACC, they don’t matter for anybody.

Now combine that with an exorbitant exit fee (which they would never make enough in the ACC to ever pay back) and you can see why this is all folly. The B12 is not in play.

really want out. For instance, SMU will have no problem paying an exit fee if they are invited to the ACC. The Big12 and ACC exit fees however, are significantly larger.
We may find out how large the negotiated exit fees will be with FSU - it has to pencil out in the long term.
