Wichita is very underrated
Son in law stationed there and have been there a bunch.
Tons of parks, really nice zoo and safari park, beautiful botanical garden, tons of kid related stuff like splash pads, water parks etc. Super friendly people to boot... Issue of course is its in the middle of NOWHERE
Koch, Gulfstream, Boeing, Archer Daniels all have big operations there and put money back in to the town. If I had smaller kids I'd chose it over Roanoke (where we live) in a heartbeat.

Not accurate
Remember these numbers include a lot of lower salary figures for VT (Ag grads working on family farms, etc. ) So beyond those the numbers are very high.
Virginia Tech Starting Salary
The salary metrics listed are based on student-reported starting salaries and do not include bonuses or other possible monetary benefits including tuition reimbursement, health insurance, among others.
Mean: $69,739
Yearly Median: $70,000 Yearly
How much do you make after graduation at UVA?
AI Overview
University of Virginia (UVA) graduates earn a median salary of approximately $72,359 six years after graduation.

Sorry no way- ATROCIOUS performance by fading Iowa team
Unathletic, stagnant and clueless on offense- that effort vs. VT and we win easily. There's a reason they only beat Farleigh Dickenson by 10 and lost by 51 to to UCLA in their previous 2 games.

Its an I don't care mentality- Jim Weaver hire a coach from down the hall
We got it right once... we hired Buzz. Now hoops game has changed (NIL) and we either don't care, or according to a lot of folks here act like some podunk small time operation that can't compete 'just because' . BS, VT alum base is way bigger than numerous higher performing programs with higher starting and mid-career salaries. The issue if we can't compete is of our own doing, and that is fundraising and accessing our alum base. I'm hoping new initiatives are changing that cause the old guard was not getting it done.

Arianna Harris Motts
I encourage those interested to check out her HUDL. She's listed 6-4 to 6-6. Very fluid and athletic, can put it on the floor from the high post, score over either shoulder, face up mid-range, and gets better lift on her shot than most any girls big you'll see with a high release. Shooting range to HS 3... Not sure how she's not top 100. I think she has HUGE upside.

Why do we just accept mediocrity?
This university has a large alumni base that does very well compared to peers re: starting and mid career salaries. Its a matter of competent fundraising and want to, and by reading most comments here, we don't seem to want to. Thats really pretty pathetic as we are talking about a schools second most prominent sport.
And the idea that a coach would not want to come here because we emphasize football and are rural is total BS. Fund the program and make a commitment and we'll get a coach.

Rivers post is spot on....
Seriously- we're just going to accept mediocrity and take a back seat to freaking Clemson, NCSU, UVa etc? No thank you- if we're playing lets play to win as we are doing now in FB..
And fund raising/ giving... a coach who can bring energy and hope can turn that around fast. Watching this crap every year is making a lot of us hesitant to throw money after a product that doesn't seem to know how to get the job done.

Is the one.... On ball D and gap coverage was terrible. MY got pissed after a.series of breaksowns and it got better. Hoping Frazier can get this fixed

Then this system sucks...
30 games in and that's what we get?... The system is not working. The flow and ability to generate shots is horrific.
Sure ATO I'll take Mike Young all day, but in terms of game offensive flow it ain't working.

Yes- I was 25' from the court
He's 6-0 so can't contest vs 6-3 McNeely and not quick enough to keep most good guards out of the paint which puts us rotation leaving shooters open.
If he's our best defensive option vs opponents best 2 guard than that explains alot of why we are in the 200+ in defensive efficiency

"Rech seems to be playing decent defense, not turning it over as much" ????
Dude is total libility defensively, had min of 4 TO's today and scored six. No thank you.

No sir
He needs the green light to play out to the 3 pt line as he did in HS. He's a pick and pop 7 footer who plays with attitude. It would be absolutley stupid to give up on him as a R-So. He played on Combines national team vs high level competition and outplayed Noah Clowney at Dorman in their 2020 game.

Yikes was excited but his UNC numbers were progressively worse...
Went from 370 ypg to 418 in 2021. 23 PPG to 32
Was Co-DC so hopefully that was the issue

LOL ESPN matchup predictor shows 0 games...
With a +50% chance of winning. They might be a 1-2 point fav home vs UVa. Best bet is final record of 7-24 maybe 8-23

Well there's this...
Rech 1.3 asst/ TO with 0.3 stl/ TO
Hammond 1 asst/ TO with 0.8 stl/ TO
So Hammond nearly negates his TO wirh steals not to mention far better overall on ball D. Sitting Courtside for all games the difference defensively betwen the two is stark. Hammond is a dog on D. Impressive for a Fr

Bad matchup
Poteat struggles to finish vs. bigger posts and will be facing 6-10 Corhen or 7-0 Diaz Graham. For goodness sakes will we please make the same effort to get scoring post touches for Wessler as we do for Poteat.
Pitt spaces the floor well and Leggett and Lowe are twitchy scoring guards who will torch Rech in iso. Hammond needs to play 25 min
Pitt to cover easily.

Rechsteiner is just horrific to this point
Yes Hammond has some bad live ball TO's but at least he can break down a defender and plays really good, active D. If Rech can't make wide open 3's then there is literally no reason to play him.

O/U for me is about 8 wins and that may be generous...
Its not the be all, end all but the ESPN matchup predictor has us at a +50% chance of winning in only 3 games- NC A&T, Navy and home vs UVa.

NIL analytics "front office" is a brilliant idea
With the cash being thrown around and the repercussions of getting it wrong, this seems like a no brainer.

I would not underestimate the impact of new energy
... in the program with a new coach and his impact on NIL

He is way more skilled than most on this board appreciate
7-1 with post skills and range to 3 line. By Jan the narrative on him will totally change. Watch his HS film vs high level opponents at Combine, like Noah Clowney. He's not catching low post vs someone 6-5 and dunking at will.

Frank was given an ultimatum by Dave Braine...
Convo was "I know you like your staff, but this is not about friends, its about winning. You're the right guy for this job but without staff changes you are not going to make it" . Frank literally fired half his staff, hired Phil Elmassian as D coord, moved Ricky Bustle to OC and changed the program. Pry needs to do the same.

What is the season ticket cost based on this map?...
Are these prices ACC games only?
https://hokiesports.com/renewall
The HC contacted me about my seat selection snafu and is attempting to locate tickets.
This 'claiming seats' stuff is insane. Why are they making this so complicated? I'm at the point where I say screw it and buy on secondary mkt.

Seat Renewal and Selection Question
So kept expecting a notice for hoops seat selection- just pulled up email from March that says "During your specific selection time, you will be selecting ticket locations for ALL of your season tickets across all applicable sports. (2024 football season and 2024-25 basketball season)"...
Anyone else miss this? Picked football but don't recall any prompt for hoops. I guess i'm screwed and won't have season tickets for first time in probably 30 years.

Have you watched Suffren's tape? She can shoot and score all three levels
She is a big time athlete. You can't base shooting opinion on VERY limited minutes this year. Thats just not a realistic view of her talent.

Hope she does stay- she's electric- top 75 recruit
One of the best athletes in the league. Elevation on her 3 is ridiculous and attacks the glass. She just needs confidence and reps.
Why she did not get reps even in blow outs was just strange.

With this, Nickel is ain't coming back
Better athlete, better defender (although it would be hard to be worse), good in low- mid post and really good shooter.
