UVA has a massive amount of alumni money from Wall Street, hedge funds,
and private equity. UVA's Darden MBA program has a $1 billion endowment by itself. That's 1/2 of VT's endowment, but for a program that only graduates about 300-400 students per year.

Then VT is not preparing for the right skill sets
If this is the world, VT grow students who know how to play it and Beat them at their same game. However, I do think VT is with their student APEX student group, they need to just connect. (VT is late in this game)

Not accurate
Remember these numbers include a lot of lower salary figures for VT (Ag grads working on family farms, etc. ) So beyond those the numbers are very high. Virginia Tech Starting Salary The salary metrics listed are based on student-reported starting salaries and do not include bonuses or other possible monetary benefits including tuition reimbursement, health insurance, among others. Mean: $69,739 Yearly Median: $70,000 Yearly How much do you make after graduation at UVA? AI Overview University of Virginia (UVA) graduates earn a median salary of approximately $72,359 six years after graduation.

Does not matter what your grads make if they don't give to BB
Look at the squad they bought last year and compare to ours. Their NIL is much larger.

VT givers, have not been sold on NIL, UVA sees it as spec investing
The VT givers dont want to see the money being used bad. and I dont think the basketball leadership, could sell investment like a financial advisor, but more the spirit of the game.

UVa has more family/trust fund money
VT is close to being on par with current salaries but when you look at at the stock portfolio of a UVA grandparent vs. VT, that's your difference. Just like the BIG 10 vs SEC. Uva, Unc and the big 10 have more old money that has been growing for generations. Compared to the SEC which is more "new" money. From someone who grew up with not much and now seeing how people with family money operates, it's a huge hill to climb to catch up. It will take VT decades/ generations to catch up.

I dont think so, that era has left
I know 3 UVA graduates, who got their masters at University Chicago and PHD at Penn and are MAJOR portfolio managers for one of the largest banks in America. They work hard, family was of average means, but they understood, the goal and vision, connections and relationships and confidence and drive for success. Thats the kind of competitive drive, (just like athletics) for our other students.
