The Big BS in this whole thing

love how VT is #49 in DARPA research rankings. But all the media types can mention is Florida State and Miami both in the 70s are close to being acepted in AAU. The media has confirmed their application is close to being approved. Yes, ok

The onky way I see us screwed if the Big 10 does not expand east

and their national fotprint leaves out Maryland to Florida because they surrender these areas to the SEC and tthe SEC does not take us because they know for a fact the Big 10 will not take us or NC State either or have any desires to expand East.

How can we go from this to behind UVA

in 10 years? for the SEC packing order. https://www.saturdaydownsouth.com/sec-football/virginia-t... ** Edited by LocalExperts at 8/21/2022, 3:46:04 PM ** Edited by LocalExperts at 8/21/2022, 3:46:39 PM

Rumor WAS Texas was going to rejoin B12

pay Nebraska the difference from their cut to leave the B1G for B12 Merge B12 with Pac 10 and Texas would create third power conference with their brand, B12, Pac 12 That ssounds like Texas thinking. Not sure they can pull it off. ** Edited by LocalExperts at 8/13/2022, 1:01:40 PM

Rumor was Texas was worried they were not ready for SEC

level. Imagine UVA and UNC with two invitations. I just don't see SEC in their future. Especially if the pay is anywhere close to each other. Virginia vs Arkansas - Blah VT vs Arkansas - crazy Lane Stadium - excitement ** Edited by LocalExperts at 8/13/2022, 12:56:53 PM

The other question fantasticl, you think Bg10

headed south. I think it. When does someone in SEC go, we have to take UNC UVA NC State VT Florida State Miami Georgia Tech now maybe OK State and WVU before we lose them then who will UNC and UVA want Big10 or SEC? I find it hard, UVA which a few months ago was talking about going private so they did not have to listen to the gov. and aeemed to envy U of PA in the Ivy League more than Alabama in the SEC is now ready to jump into the SEC pool. Big 10 pool. Sure, that is more of their swimming level

Bsylor remember w/o Anne Richards they would

have been left out of Big 12. How times have changed. ** Edited by LocalExperts at 8/13/2022, 8:36:09 AM

I guess Bayor but I do not see 3 in Texas

or Central Florida. Their student base alone is worth it. But now 3 in Florida

Fantastic, your anaysis was fantastic. IHow do you see SEC?

the SEC? 17 Florida State 18 Clemson 29 Virginia Tech 20 NC State West Virginia 21 Oklahoma State 22 Kansas I hsve trouble getting past 22 unless Kansas State (which I think is a cultural fit). Kansas would be for hoops. Pittsburg (not cultural fit) or Arizonia (hoops 2)

I don't know how much I pay for it. Verizon FIOS has it in a bundle

if you know how bundles work, most people don't knw the details. It is all neogotation between big companies

Lets us assume you are correct, ESPN owns part of that problem

and if they want a competitive product to replace the Big 10 and provide content to go with the SEC. They got some work to do ** Edited by LocalExperts at 8/11/2022, 6:56:25 PM

Everyone has a number

If I talk my friends Mr SEC and Mr Big 10 you will never join, unless we exclude you from a playoff you habve not won since 1988, I like my leverage to get you to reconsider. Considering the only time you got to the payoffs recently was a member of my conference. Name the freedom you need to feel taller than the rest. I will slip a few inches under your shoes to make you feel good.

Nothing prevents me from asking a competitor what they pay for my product

and then telling you my perfceived value of my product that I want you to pay me. ** Edited by LocalExperts at 8/11/2022, 6:42:21 PM

you already scheduled some of my teams. Signed a deal you cannot join

another league. You gave away significant parts of your leverage. I don't own you 100%. But for $70M, you told me I get all I need. I don't need to know anything else until we talk details. But equal payout.I already know what I need to know. I just need to connect the dots. Call yourself an indepdendent affliate of the ACC. But we get paid for your home games, and you get a better deal. That is my goal.

You already unzipped your fly

You told NBC $70M to remain indepdendent. So if I can give you $70M and you keep your independence in decision amking, but technically join for optics and because your deal with NBC is obver. Lets see how far not goes. I am sure I can figure out a solution for both parties to meet their goals.

this aau membersip is BS. Use something objective like NNSF Research Rank

VT #49 ahead of Iowa #53? Most years they have been ahead of UVA Stony Brook is an AAU member, they're research is like #98 This is hog wash. Use something objective, not membership in the local country club founded in 1923. For the dot com millionares to be excluded from your reindeer games ** Edited by LocalExperts at 8/11/2022, 6:45:57 PM

ACC Expansion

tell ESPN 70 million per team including ND then invite ND and WVU and call it a day. No Cincinnati. No SMU. No Baylor.

We don't have a Wake problem, we hav e an ESPN problem

share more partner. We should get 80% what the SEC gets ** Edited by LocalExperts at 8/11/2022, 5:11:31 PM

Bigger brand - you a media consultant. Work on Madison Ave

where is your data. I am going to bet VT football gets bigger ratings. ** Edited by LocalExperts at 8/10/2022, 8:51:39 PM

UVA/VT an honest assessment

VT - more eyeballs watch games VT - more students from VA schools which include parents VT - more alumni VT - more students graduating to become alumni VT - new DC area campus VT - bigger stadium VT - Expanding student body to what 30,0000-40,000? UVA - Thomas Jefferson VT - better football team UVA - UNC wants them to join them UVA - more students from PA, MD, NJ, NY sounds like UVA is nore Big 10 VT more SEC now who wins UVA wanting Big 10 or UNC's desire for sec. Same money. Both win stadiums that are too small for a P2 conference. ** Edited by LocalExperts at 8/10/2022, 8:47:45 PM ** Edited by LocalExperts at 8/10/2022, 8:48:30 PM

UNC UVA on conference expansion

Both have ig 10 and SEC invite. Picture Paris Hilton/Nicole Ritchie slap fight Join the Big 10 with me. We can't compete in the SEC No you join me in the SEC. But I want my games on NBC in primetime. i don't want to play Arkansas and LSU and Ole Miss and Tennessee and Kentucky. I want to play Michigan and Northwestern. Those AAU schools. Our type of schools. ESPN doesn't show our games now often in the ACC Last time I heard, UVA wanted to go private and oogle the University of Pennsylvania because they did not have to listen to the Gov on tuition raises. ** Edited by LocalExperts at 8/10/2022, 8:42:05 PM

SEC wanted TA&M uutil Texas started looking

and then they worried Big 10 might accept Texas. And we saw how quickly SEC disregarded A&M's feelings. And if they take Clemson and Florida State, adding no new markets. Then we can assume SEC is looking to lock down the South. So they either take UNC and UVA or they go for South Total Lockdown. Two strategies.m2. 4, 6, 8 - ESPN is already paying. Who do you think makes the decision to pay a little more to keep the conent on their channel. This is not a UNC or SEC decision. It is made in Bristol, CT or Orlando, FL ** Edited by LocalExperts at 8/10/2022, 7:35:09 PM

SEC is not going to leave schools free in the South

for the Big 10 to get a foothold ACC is already on ESPN. Adding 8 teams to SEC to lock down the south and move some money from one pot to another would not a big deal. ** Edited by LocalExperts at 8/10/2022, 7:31:16 PM

Yea, the SEC is going to love taking orders from UNC and Texas on how to

run their conference and whem tje Bg 10 shows interest in VT, NC State, Ga Tech, Miami, and Florida State. The SEC is going to let that happen,. so is ESPN to please UNC.

The good news about being "screwed"

We can build rhe new basketball arena in the Lane Stadium footprint.

Big 10 commissioner tell NBC we want that game

we don't want Indiana vs Maryland to go up against Miami vs VT on ABC. ** Edited by LocalExperts at 8/10/2022, 7:13:30 PM ** Edited by LocalExperts at 8/10/2022, 7:13:47 PM

Live from Amazon Stadiium in Dumfries, VA

tonight the Maryland Terrapins take on the Virginia Cavaliers and the West Virginia Mountaineers take on the Virginia Tech Hokies on Amazon TV in the first annual Battle of the Beltway exclusively on Amazon Streaming

The writing on the wall changed yesterday

Originally this was an ESPN vs Fox battle Now the Big 10 has to feed CBS, NBC, and Fox. With 20 teams. That is about 10 grames per week within the conference. I doubt ESPN is going to let SEC teams play Big 10 teams and show the game on a non ESPN network. So 10 games needing 3 marquee match ups. With less than 50% of the country. So the Notre Dame guy, is going to speak for everyone. Not the NBC person who wants to make the Big 10 the NFL of college football without Florida, Texas, Arizonia, Georgia, Virginia, and North Carolina coverage. And you don't think the SEC is going to get nervous and try to pre-empt a move by the Big 10, get itchy fingers. And decide we are taking Miami, FSU, Clemson, Virginia Tech, Virginia, UNC, NC State, and Ga Tech to local down oiur footprint from the Big 10. Isn't that what started the latest round of expansion. Texas and OK raised their hand and SEC took them to keep them from the Big 10. Think people, stop this "poor old Virginia Tech always gets screwed view of the world". Put down your Sports Illustrated from 1974 where Rich Barry said Virginia was just a bunch of poor, dumb, hill billy rednecks. That world ended decades ago. ** Edited by LocalExperts at 8/10/2022, 6:45:41 PM ** Edited by LocalExperts at 8/10/2022, 6:47:11 PM

My firsrt edict as ESPN college football head

I pay for games I make the schedule Miami you play VT or ACC gets less money. I tell Phillips. Miami plays VT UNC plays VT Clemson plays UNC Clemson plays VT Clemson plays Florida State every year Duke and Wake and BC get les primetime games. ACC can divide the money however they choose Market Dynamics. Field a quality product. Sell that product to your customers (fans) or get less games and ultimately less revenue. This is the not the Atlantic Communist Conference. You produce or you don't get games, paid. etc. No more I-AA games. No more than one G5 game. Max games between SEC and ACC big brands Tennn vs VT at Brstol 2 UNC vs SC Florida vs Miami Alabma vs FSU Clemson vs. Georgia LSU vs Virginia NC State vs Texas ** Edited by LocalExperts at 8/9/2022, 8:22:33 PM ** Edited by LocalExperts at 8/9/2022, 10:31:33 PM

ESPN needs an SEC/ACC challenge like the ACC/Big 10 challenge in hoops

Get these teams playing each other. Forget the Charleston Southern's OOC games. Lets get South Carolina vs North Carolina. Miss State. vs Virginia Tech. Clemson vs. Florida.
