UNC No 1 wants to be KINg of the conference and if they cannot they will go where they need too. They do not like the messaging of 'for the ACC to succeed the 4 football schools ave to be great. The 4 football schools are FSU, Clemson Miami and VT. UNC has nothing on the other three but TECH. They are livid that VT football national brand is better than theirs (even worse now that VT won the cherished ACC basketball tourney.). Their goal is 1) change the narrative to ensue the 4 schools are FSU Clemson Miami and UNC and 2) Also, they want to eliminate any possibility for VT to get into a power 2 because (frankly VT is the competition for them in the region. No other institution in this region has stood up to them, and challenged them. From Dooley, to Beamer, now basketball. I remember when VT soccer played in the NCAA in Cary as well as the ACC championship, the UNC folks were so upset of the hooligans from VT who 1) packed the stadium and then out cheered their fans and their cozy home field. I worry that UNC cozy relationship with ACC HQ, will help them with their narrative. ACC appears to outsource alot of ESPN discussion to NC (really::). Then ACC hires a consultant to help build revenue,... where is the CEO of this consultant from??? he is from No 2 for ESPN and also graduate of UNC. really//// wonder what is bias is going to be?? VT needs to be sharper, work harder and see the fox in the hen house. I believe at the end, VT just needs to put great product on the field, superb fan base, and great media numbers. Broaden the narrative of there is nothing better than VT football. (thats why some folks are upset about the staging of the Media day for football). For UNC, the number one is UNC, Also, UVA needs to be careful and not be played, UNC would pull UVA with them to just marginalize VT. They will argue to ESPN and the conferences that UVA really dominates and can carry the state from Northern Va. NOT... and UNC being UNC folks listen. very sleepy out there

remove your tinfoil hat and adjust your glasses to ensure you see things more clearly. First, the only place where UNC MIGHT ever be king is the ACC. None of the current projected P2 view UNC in the light of a king or conference lynchpin. No school that struggles to put 60,000 in its football stadium is ever going to be King of the SEC or B1G. Second, while people have valid concerns surrounding putting VT's best foot forward in ALL media interactions, stressing over yesterday's conference is akin to worrying whether the car has been washed while ignoring the engine that is ready to blow up and the tires that are ready to fall off. Third, everybody is a graduate of somewhere and to worry about the potential bias of a vendor is laughable. Leadership positions are a different animal. Finally, every school should look out for their own interests first and that has never been more true in collegiate sports than today. Your historic view of UNC, while not totally inaccurate, bears little relevance to what is actually happening today.

Clemson also. They desire competing for football on lesser scale and would love for ND, THE U or Clemson to dominate. As long as other stuff was their picking. This would eliminate VT, THE VILLE, STATE and FSU.

That is an easy statement to make. We may be in a situation where Justin Fuente and Whit Babcock through their decisions and poor performance degraded Tech football to the a state where it may be easy to be left in the conference hinterlands. Whether we like it or not, we have to have a conference champion style football team to be in any of these conversations as we do not have the "name" in the US News ratings like UNC. If we were a perennial top 10 team as we were 10-15 years ago, we would be an easy decision for the SEC, maybe even the Big 10.

Like it or not one school usually dominates the Conference. Alabama in the SEC, Ohio State in the B1G and UNC in the ACC. Again, I don’t see UNC giving up being the King with the GOR in place, for 10-14 years. That has to happen for the Conference to collapse.

2030-31 will be the moving year and lawyers will probably be able to argue by that point the financial disparity set forth by an egregiously long contract vs other “like” conferences as a way to get out with a more reasonable penalty. Moves have been in twos for a long time. ND is next for the B1G and they’re probably fine being independent for another 6 years with NBC. So nothing happens until that. Hopefully Whit Babcock has a good relationship with Mark Warner because that might be able to help over the next few years. Every involved state is going to be throwing their senators at this until it’s done.

Makes sense to have them as an ally. Helps that the commish of the Big is an ND alum. Maybe it will settle for a bit. Minus a acc and pac partnership type move.
