tell ESPN 70 million per team including ND
then invite ND and WVU
and call it a day. No Cincinnati. No SMU. No Baylor.

Everyone here wants WVU...why?
I understand that they have a rivalry with Tech and Pitt, but is WVU the key to getting ESPN/Disney to kick in more revenue to better monetize the ACCN and close the gap with the Big 10 and the SEC. Of course not! West Virginia does not have the population to warrant an increase in "local" subscriber fees that will financially make them viable.
You shoot down Cincinnati, SMU and Baylor. I know that the revenue that "local" subscriber charges for the ACCN in Ohio and Texas are well worth expansion into those states. In fact, I support expansion into California, Arizona, Colorado, Texas and Ohio to bring in much more revenue.

Most of the other options are to add states with larger population of subscribers, but not with larger television brands. WVU has a brand in this part of the Mid-Atlantic and their television numbers for Tier 1 are good. I have been suggesting to be a pair with Cincinnati to do a combined brand vs subscriber base add. WVU also brings the rivalries that you mention, and they have a large diaspora in Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia, and the Carolinas. Perhaps Ohio and Kentucky too. They travel to games and buy tickets as visiting fans. The ACC has many football stadiums in Pennsylvania, Kentucky, Virginia, North Carolina, and South Carolina to sell tickets. I see WVU fans travelling because of the diaspora and buying the tickets. This has value outside of television. WVU is not the addition to really impact the ACC Network. It's these other items that I see. It's also less costly travel.

plus the rivalries with old Big East teams make for interesting match ups.
Since the ACC is past the point of growing big, add WVU, Cinn, OKState, Iowa State, Baylor, Tulane or Memphis. Yeah, the last two suck at football but LA and TN have lots of TV sets. Gettting them to watch is another thing.
I'm not a fan of Baylor (school or sports) but they have built up into a big brand.
I still think UCF would be a good add for the future as well as they have huge, growing alumni base that is into their football.

Notre Dame will end up joining the B1G...
and will be one of the conference's four members of the "popular clique". Ohio State and Michigan will continue to run the show while USC and Notre Dame will be "yes men" in the popular clique. All the other B1G schools will continue to submit to the Big 4.

The history of the big 10 and specifically Michigan to the institution for over 100 years, generate their culture.
Anti catholic bias by Michigan in the 1920's then in the seventies, ND asked to joined and was turned down. ND celebrates it's independence and frankly don't trust their future to the Big 10 (or any conference)..
They will ride independence until it's critical and appears there is NO panic for them. They just move on, recruit well and get their 70-75 million TV rights

If I talk my friends Mr SEC and Mr Big 10 you will never join, unless we exclude you from a playoff you habve not won since 1988,
I like my leverage to get you to reconsider. Considering the only time you got to the payoffs recently was a member of my conference. Name the freedom you need to feel taller than the rest. I will slip a few inches under your shoes to make you feel good.

You told NBC $70M to remain indepdendent. So if I can give you $70M and you keep your independence in decision amking, but technically join for optics and because your deal with NBC is obver. Lets see how far not goes. I am sure I can figure out a solution for both parties to meet their goals.

another league. You gave away significant parts of your leverage. I don't own you 100%. But for $70M, you told me I get all I need. I don't need to know anything else until we talk details. But equal payout.I already know what I need to know. I just need to connect the dots.
Call yourself an indepdendent affliate of the ACC. But we get paid for your home games, and you get a better deal. That is my goal.
